WORLD WORLDWIDE EUROPE FRANCE - news journal UPDATE - (en) France, OCL CA #352 - "No war but class war!" - No other war than class war! (ca, de, fr, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

The intensification of repression, authoritarian practices, conflicts,

and the trampling of international law by the most powerful countries
threaten the freedoms of all, everywhere on the planet. In this deadly
dynamic affecting governments of all persuasions, the far right, whether
active, complicit, or lying in wait, is winning significant electoral
and ideological victories. While the world seems to be at a historic
turning point, contradictions are exacerbating, and so-called
democracies are revealing their true colors.

The law is the guarantor of our freedoms, and it is the same for
everyone, as our leaders say! But, on the contrary, the law expresses
above all a balance of power, and the least we can say is that it is not
in our favor. It increasingly protects the private interests of the
powerful, relentlessly repressing those who try to stand up against
inequality and injustice. We are witnessing, year after year, a
dislocation of the meager guarantees, which, through struggle, had set
limits to the claims of the bourgeoisie: labor rights that are dwindling
to guarantee maximum profit rates for bosses; the right to housing,
derisory in the face of increasingly unaffordable rents; the right of
access to public services, uncertain, at a time of their privatization;
the rights of foreigners, which are constantly hardening, plunging
entire populations into the arbitrariness of the administration, the
violence of migratory routes and expulsions, and brutal exploitation;
criminal law that is increasingly extensive and repressive; rights of
expression and information mistreated by the power and the media at its
command... It is the same reality, which is unfolding with the same
violence, everywhere in the world. The welfare state and social
compromise are nothing more than chimeras for those nostalgic for social
democracy and the National Council of Resistance, who quickly forget
that a left hook can hurt as much as a right jab.

At the same time, the fundamental principles of international law, which
governed relations between states, are being trampled upon, and only
brute force reigns. Netanyahu ignores his arrest warrants for war crimes
and crimes against humanity from the International Criminal Court and
continues to massacre Palestinians with the complicity of Western and
Arab states. When Israel repeatedly violates this same international
law, carries out genocidal actions in Gaza, invades Lebanon, and bombs
Iran, no sanctions can stop its pretensions; on the contrary, some
countries continue to arm Israel and loudly endorse it. Behind the
screen of the fight against the Iranian military nuclear program led by
the "only democracy in the Middle East", exercising its "right to defend
itself", we observe strong similarities with the historical imperialist
arguments, which have served to mask the geopolitical and economic
interests of the moment: from the imminent acquisition of "weapons of
mass destruction" to reduce Iraq to chaos to that of the fight against
terrorism for Afghanistan, including the protection of civilian
populations in Libya... And woe betide those who would dare to point out
that all state leaders hold each other by the beard and are as alike as
two peas in a pod (embezzlement, embezzlement, oil and mining interests
to defend, with associated massacres, wars, torture); or even simply
those who commemorate the civilian victims of the Gaza genocide, like
this teacher from Sens, suspended for having allowed her students to
gather for a minute of silence! Because while Trump and Netanyahu carry
out one military coup after another, the genocide in Gaza continues
amidst a deafening media silence.

In this global landscape, we must not forget that other parts of the
world are at war. The race for profit that is suffocating the planet and
its inhabitants stops at nothing to massacre populations: in the
Democratic Republic of Congo, several million have died since the
mid-1990s, without anyone being moved; in Yemen and Sudan, the war
continues; in Somalia, the strikes continue...

But in this quagmire of terror orchestrated by the powerful to the
detriment of the population, the embers of protest are still burning,
and resistance exists. Let us not be fooled by the rhetoric of the
corporate media, which relays official information and obscures the
mobilizations that are emerging in various places. Tens of thousands of
demonstrators are marching in all the capitals to protest against the
massacres, against the resumption of arms production, and against the
genocide in Gaza. The mobilization, even belated, of the Marseille
dockers who refused to load weapons to Israel delighted us all. It's not
much, but it's the way forward. Solidarity with the Palestinians is
built in the struggle against "our" bourgeoisie, allied with
executioners of all kinds and exporters of deadly weapons.

Extending the class struggle here and elsewhere against wars also means
organizing a response against unemployment laws, undocumented
immigrants, repression, public services, and more. Our exploiters know
it and say it: to prepare for war, they must pick the pockets of the
proles. Heavy weapons mean low wages. The fate of proletarians
everywhere on the planet is therefore linked.

Against war, against the tyranny of profit, class struggle!
