Towards the public assembly on September 2nd and the march on September
6th. In defense of self-managed public and social spaces, againstgentrification, for the right to housing, against property speculation,
the plundering of the Milan-Cortina Olympics, and the city's masters!
---- We want to organize a large march on September 6th for a different
Milan and for all cities increasingly marked by red zones, restrictions,
entrance fees, and forced selections. ---- The eviction of the
Leoncavallo is a clear consequence of the transformations that have
taken place in Milan, starting with the urban planning. A model that
they would like to extend elsewhere. But it is also the vengeance of
those in power against those who try to resist.
The government has taken hold of the old Leo, in its 50th year, to
launch the right-wing electoral campaign, led by the Brothers of Italy,
towards the upcoming municipal elections.
It is a legality built on hatred toward those who are foreign and/or
expelled, the poor-a legality that leads to social isolation for those
with disabilities and psychological fragility.
It justifies violence, even to the point of torture and genocide.
Social, cultural, and artistic spaces, whether self-managed or not,
occupied or organized, are the antithesis of governing fascism, as is
social conflict, which sees occupation as a tool for leveling
ever-widening social differences, a foundation for democratic debate in
a country and its cities.
We have another idea of the city and the world, one that has changed
over the past fifty years and has also become transfeminist,
intersectional, and anti-abilityist-a city that protects peasant
agriculture and its attacked lands, for access to food as cultural
nourishment.
The event spans the dates of the anti-racist Abba Vive festival from
September 5th to 7th at Parco Sempione. An event that represents the
living memory of the new anti-racist and decolonial generations who are
the future of Milan.
Let's build a march that brings together different generations and
different political experiences.
The horizontal city against the verticalism of power.
