🎷 Bonjour à Toots ! Newsletter anticipée pour vous informer d’une soirée de soutien de dernière minute ce soir au club. Rudy Coclet, ingénieur du son bien connu du jazz belge — son Jet Studio a accueilli un nombre incalculable d’enregistrements d’albums d’artistes de la note bleue version noir-jaune-rouge — a été agressé et s’est fait voler son ordinateur à la sortie d’une session d’enregistrement avec Claude Semal. Claude a eu l’idée d’organiser une soirée de soutien, et c’est au Toots Jazz Club qu’elle aura lieu ce soir. Quelques noms sont déjà annoncés et une jam session animera la soirée et fera tourner le bar, dont une partie des bénéfices sera reversée à Rudy, en plus d’une entrée fixée à 10 € (préférez le cash, et n’hésitez pas à donner davantage si vos moyens vous le permettent). 🎶 Et le reste de la semaine s’annonce tout aussi vibrant ! Après le Blitz du mardi, place à Ben Sluijs qui ouvrira la jam du mercredi. Jeudi, nous aurons la chance d’accueillir la superstar de la clarinette dixieland, l’Anglais Adrian Cox, pour la sortie de son nouvel album Club Croco — une apparition rare en Belgique, à ne manquer sous aucun prétexte ! Vendredi, la new-yorkaise Lauren Henderson nous fera l’honneur de sa présence pour un concert intimiste, portée par sa voix magique. Samedi, le bassiste luxembourgeois Boris Schmidt viendra présenter le répertoire de son acclamé dernier album, avec une équipe qui sait ce que le mot mélodie veut dire — toujours un bon moment… Et enfin, dimanche, Jasen Weaver rendra hommage au génial Roy Hargrove pour notre série Nostalgia in Grand-Place, avec le rendez-vous mensuel des fans de crooners : Tom McGuire & The New-Yorkers. 🍂 Le jazz tient chaud et remonte le moral — en automne, mangez du jazz ! Rudy Coclet, de bekende Belgische geluidstechnicus — zijn Jet Studio was het toneel van ontelbare jazzopnames van artiesten van de zwart-geel-rode blue note-scene — werd aangevallen en zijn computer werd gestolen na een opnamesessie met Claude Semal. Claude had het idee om een benefietavond te organiseren, en die vindt vanavond plaats in de Toots Jazz Club. Enkele artiesten zijn al aangekondigd en een jam session zal de avond verder opvrolijken. Een deel van de baropbrengst wordt aan Rudy geschonken, naast een toegangsprijs van 10 € (breng liefst contant geld mee, en geef gerust wat meer als u dat kan). 🎶 De rest van de week belooft even boeiend te worden! Donderdag verwelkomen we de dixieland-klarinet-superster Adrian Cox uit Engeland, met zijn nieuwe album Club Croco — zelden te zien in België, dus mis het niet! Vrijdag brengt de New Yorkse zangeres Lauren Henderson een intiem concert met haar betoverende stem. Zaterdag stelt de Luxemburgse bassist Boris Schmidt het repertoire van zijn bejubelde laatste album voor, met een ploeg die weet wat het woord melodie betekent — altijd een goed moment… En tenslotte op zondag brengt Jasen Weaver een eerbetoon aan de geniale Roy Hargrove tijdens onze Nostalgia in Grand-Place-reeks, met het maandelijkse rendez-vous voor croonerfans: Tom McGuire & The New-Yorkers. 🍂 Jazz verwarmt en geeft moed — in de herfst, eet jazz! Het Toots Jazz Club-team 🎷 Hello from Toots! An early newsletter to let you know about a last-minute benefit concert taking place tonight at the club. Rudy Coclet, the renowned Belgian sound engineer — whose Jet Studio has hosted an incredible number of jazz recordings from the black-yellow-red side of the scene — was assaulted and had his computer stolen after a recording session with Claude Semal. Claude immediately decided to organize a support evening, and it’s happening tonight at the Toots Jazz Club. Several artists have already confirmed, and a jam session will keep the night swinging. A portion of the bar proceeds will be donated to Rudy, along with a €10 entry fee (cash preferred — and feel free to give more if you can!). 🎶 The rest of the week looks just as exciting! After our Tuesday Blitz, the excellent Ben Sluijs will open the Wednesday jam. On Thursday, Adrian Cox, the dixieland clarinet superstar from the UK, stops by with his new album Club Croco — a rare treat in Belgium, not to be missed! Friday brings the New York singer Lauren Henderson for an intimate evening, showcasing her stunning voice. On Saturday, Luxembourg bassist Boris Schmidt presents the repertoire from his acclaimed latest album, surrounded by a team who truly know what the word melody means — always a good time… And finally on Sunday, Jasen Weaver pays tribute to the great Roy Hargrove for our Nostalgia in Grand-Place series, along with the monthly rendezvous for crooner fans: Tom McGuire & The New-Yorkers. 🍂 Jazz warms the heart and lifts the spirit — this autumn, feed yourself with jazz! Boris Schmidt Band - Groovy and Romantic samedi 25 octobre - 19:30 and 21:30 Boris Schmidt (db), Bruno van der Haegen (ts, bcl), Lorenzo Di Maio (g), Lionel Beuvens (dr), Martin Salemi (p) Luxembourg-born bassist Boris Schmidt has established himself as one of the distinctive voices on the Belgian jazz scene. Known for his versatility – from baroque to Latin American traditions – he creates as a leader a personal sound world that is lyrical, warm and deeply expressive. Following Now (2018), he returns with Here, an album with a remarkable story: after the studio burned down, the entire project had to be re-recorded months later. This ordeal adds a unique intensity to the music.
