WORLD WORLDWIDE EUROPE ITALY - news journal UPDATE - (en) Italy, FdCA, IL CANTIERE #39 - Why Become Part of a Collective Today? - Claudia Mazzanti (ca, de, fr, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

School is a place of discussion and stimulation of creativity. But what
training is considered valid for a teacher? In schools, one's own
pedagogical research is essential: when students lose motivation to
study, it is possible to educate them about frustration through
effective dynamic assessment. Support them in the knowledge that they
haven't yet achieved a goal, but that they will achieve it because what
they are experiencing is part of the learning process.
The teacher is the human being who guides this relationship, in which he
or she engages fully.
When the teacher identifies the cause of the student's discomfort, he or
she brings them back to their subjectivity.
Now that I'm part of a collective that thinks, I feel much stronger and
I'm not afraid.
I see through the events that happen at school.
And I'm confident that thinking together is constructive for me and can
be for many others.
The teaching profession cannot be deprived of its collective dimension;
this impoverishes it, and the choices of the school-cum-corporate
movement tend to cut off any possibility for discussion, reflection, or
personal, and even more so, collective, development.
The intention is clear: a stimuli-free environment where everything
becomes execution rather than reflection is better controlled.
Being in the Michel-Ferrer Collective makes me feel connected, even over
time. I feel a responsibility to speak to others who may feel confused.
I can understand the sense of injustice and suffering that other
workers, not just those in the school system, feel and may have felt.
Workers who feel crushed by the system and are no longer able to think,
to see a perspective in which a change in conditions is possible,
starting with us one by one.
The Michel Ferrer pedagogical collective represents an important
experience for me, because it has irreversibly changed my worldview: now
there are men and women who think together. How has my perspective
changed, and what theoretical contribution can I make to others? I can
share ideas, reflect, and develop a new way of being a school.
I am no longer alone in my pedagogical research; I engage with other
workers and find new, collective solutions. I can say that, from my
experience within the Michel Ferrer Pedagogical Collective, forces are
at work within our group that define identity, fuel a healthy
narcissism, and a trust in the irrational or unconscious thinking that
is inherent in each of us. Each of us feels entitled to pedagogical
research, and this unites us regardless of our work and experience, from
childhood to university.
Our collective reflection has one main goal: to work together so that
students can become political subjects, protagonists in their own lives,
and bearers of that alternative thought, as Pyotr Kropotkin stated in
his book Mutual Aid: "Developing an awareness of human solidarity, the
sense of the close dependence of each person's happiness on the
happiness of all, leads the individual to consider the rights of each as
equal to his own."
