A week has passed since the conference organized to celebrate the
eightieth anniversary of the founding of the Italian Anarchist
Federation. It was a conference in memory of Italino Rossi, a fellow
member who passed away a year ago. The organization of this event was
part of that promise to carry forward the values that united us on our
shared journey through life. Italino, with his culture and lively
passion for history, would certainly have appreciated the various
presentations that followed in the foyer of the Teatro Animosi. The
political, historical, and cultural presentations were filled with
emotion, tears of joy, but also tears of "activism," from those who
believed and still believe in a political journey that is now eighty
years old. This is a significant number, but the relevance of anarchist
thought and the renewed fervor in the streets rejuvenate us and propel
us into new struggles with the maturity and intrinsic characteristics of
the Federation: internationalism, anti-authoritarianism, solidarity. We
put a lot of effort into organizing these two days, as we were
particularly concerned about the success of the comrades who came to
Carrara and the Federation as a whole. The exchange and dialogue with
our comrades was always wonderful and enriching, sharing the conference
and the conviviality of the events surrounding it. The thanks we
received from the workers at the Animosi Theater Foyer, the audio-visual
technicians, and the restaurant owners of Carrara were truly gratifying.
I conclude by thanking the speakers, moderators, musicians, and writers,
extending this gratitude to all the comrades whose dedication made this
red-and-black weekend a success.
