The Paris Commune Through the Voice of an Unknown Woman ---- The "Voices from Below" collection from Plein Chant publishers features texts from the working class. The first volume, published in 1970, is titled "The Ascent," written by the worker Lucien Bourgeois. It was later expanded with "Memories" by Léontine Oudot, subtitled "The Commune, a Family Affair." Her style is truly that of the people: precise, moving, and denunciatory. She introduces us to her family, skilled workers: chair makers and linotypists.
