This Is What Your Compassion Makes Possible Dear friends, In a township outside Pretoria, where poverty touches every part of daily life, abandoned animals often suffer unseen. When Tebogo and the team at Soshanguve Animal Shelter were called to help a frightened mother dog living in the bush, they didn’t hesitate. Then they saw her… Hidden beneath a tree, she had given birth alone. Three tiny puppies depended on a mother who was starving herself just to keep them alive. When rescuers approached, she didn’t run. She stood her ground - weak but determined to protect her babies. With patience and care, the team gained her trust and brought the family to safety. When food was finally placed in front of her, she devoured it in minutes. It was clear how long she had gone without. Every day in Soshanguve, dogs are hit by cars, abandoned, chained without food, or left to suffer from untreated illness.   Some are found too late. During a recent outreach, the team found a dog with advanced cancer and stayed with him to ensure he didn’t die in pain or alone. In that same effort, they vaccinated 180 dogs - protecting them and their communities. But they cannot continue without help.
