Women have borne much of the brunt of the fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic, such as being forced to leave the workforce in droves to care for children, older people, and others.

As the world marked International Women's Day this week, women are at the forefront of battling the pandemic as frontline workers and caregivers.

They must also be included in the world’s economic recovery.

Interim co-directors of Human Rights Watch’s women’s rights division Heather Barr and Amanda Klasing speak about women’s lives during the pandemic and how to build a more equitable future.
