Our Companion decided to undertake this magnificent task and dedicated a good
part of his life to bringing to life the "Encyclopedia of Iberian Anarchism", awork well known among scholars of our History, and on which many analyzes havealready been carried out. However, few people know the author, who prefers tohide in the collective, leaving the protagonist role to the names and factsmentioned. ---- In the[newspaper]cnt, we couldn't resist wanting to know thehuman side that these contributions always bring, and we interviewed MiguelIñiguez, a member of the CNT de Vitoria and the Isaac Puente Association.Question - How did you get in touch with the CNT for the first time? Was it theideas or some work conflict?Reply - Ideas and ethics, and even psychology. Neither wanting to order nor to beordered, exaltation of freedom and refusal of authority. And I have moreconviction than work reasons - these are the ones that permeate and move a largepart of the militancy of the 70s and 80s, and that still persevere in the Ideatoday. And I believe, after having described tens of thousands of profiles, thatthe same is worth saying about Salvochea, Manuel Pérez, Durruti, Salvador Seguí,Teresa Claramunt, Lucía Sánchez Saornil and an unending etecetera. If we go toconcrete, it is worth dating my entry into the libertarian movement in 1971.That's when I start receiving printed propaganda from Toulouse, sent by RoqueLlop, an anarchist poet and Catalan confederate. What veteran activistleft you with that lasting impression that we take as a reference?R. - In Vitoria, Atanasio Gainzaráin and Macario Illera, by different aspects,infallible companions we know. Outside the local context, Ramón Álvarez and JoséPeirats had an impact on me, due to their strong personalities. Of the former, Iwill always remember that, in a Plenary of Regionals, I offered him my help asdelegate of the Regional of Euskadi, in the face of attacks that Asturias wasreceiving from the Levantine delegation. And, looking at me fixedly, he put hisright hand on my shoulder and said: "Young fellow, Asturias defends itself."Reincarnation of Don Pelayo or Favila. From Peirats, the ten or twelve hoursstraight I spent at his house in Vall de Uxó, where we spoke of the human and thedivine. A potter of Cyclopean culture and great conceptual acuity. A toughorganization, in which you will find some people who shouldn't graduate from it;but also many more with pure idealism, who give everything for nothing, peoplewhom Catholicism would have considered much less beatified and made into saints.In which they will contemplate some small evils inherent to the human condition,internal tensions that we must know how to overcome and where small victoriesproduce enormous satisfaction. However, they will form the only organization (andwe have seen the burial of hundreds) that - after nearly 50 years ofenvironmental, social, media and political pressure - is still standing, withoutdepending on subsidies or subsidies.Q. - An encyclopedia somehow represents the past, but we cannot help asking aboutour present. Are you optimistic about the steps the Organization is taking?R. - Only in a way the past, because the Encyclopedia circulates a good number ofactivists from right now - a confirmation that it breathes and stirs. I think our mainproblem is the scant ideological formation of part of the youth militancy, whichsometimes drags us into following, and which leads us to partake of the soup ofacronyms and platforms with many whose members we have nothing to share. We fadeinto this leftist mix of localist tones, putting our identity marks in theshadows. There are, I believe, certain complexes and fears that the ancients didnot have.
