 Despite all the adversities of the pandemic, we, the Free Workers Union Magdeburg

(FAU), have maintained our trade union activities. We were successful in labor
disputes against Pizziano Magdeburg Altstadt GmbH (Domino's Pizza) or BIOlounge
GmbH (including bread & cheese). But we have not only asserted the interests of
our members in the companies, but also against the offices, so that at least the
applicable law was observed. We have also tried to improve the living situation
of our class through "political" motions against the job center or the social
welfare office.
In addition, in 2021 we were often to be found on the streets of Magdeburg. Be it
with the anti-fascist activities in January, on the feminist day of struggle in
March, on March 18 (day of political prisoners and the commemoration of the Paris
Commune), on the day of struggle of the working class: inner class or on the day
of the unemployed. Then there were the monthly rallies in front of the job
center, where we not only distributed information material, but also accompanied
and supported unemployed people in solidarity with their official appointments.
Our active struggle for the working class and their interests is also reflected
in the growth in membership: in 2021 we have recorded a growth of 78% compared to
the previous year. In 2022 we will continue to work on building our militant
grassroots union and continue to stand up for the interests of our class.
