From the FAR we believe that feminism and the anti-patriarchal struggle are
strategic in order to build a new world and end this system of domination thatoppresses us in multiple ways. ---- This last year, the fight for free abortionwas a central axis around which we were in the streets from the student,neighborhood and union organizations to which we belong. We believe that a demandwas expressed from below that became unavoidable, leading to the law of legalinterruption of pregnancy being very close to being approved. However, the sameparliamentary game sets rules that ended up favoring the most conservative andreactionary sectors, leaving the law postponed for at least a year and hundredsof women condemned to have abortions in the worst conditions of secrecy andhelplessness.The struggle we carried out this year was extremely significant, it reflectsyears of grassroots work. Countless workshops in the neighborhoods, talks withour work and study colleagues, marches and multisectoral activities made possiblewhat we experienced last August. Not to mention the National Women's Encountersthat have been grouping us for more than three decades to think about each otherand build collective strategies and that created the National Campaign for theLegalization of Abortion. The last meetings were impressively massive, reaching70,000 people. Massiveness, which in the fight for safe abortion, was expressedin hundreds of direct actions throughout the country, with scarves, talks,cultural activities and other actions carried out by hundreds of women.We say that we anarchist women have been fighting for a long time to decide forourselves, since the 19th century we can appreciate the originality of thefeminist position that we consider inherent to our anarchism. A classistfeminism, which does not prioritize or rank one oppression over another, butrather intends to destroy the system of domination as a whole.
