Last Sunday, members and friends of the Collectif Emma Goldman held a new edition
of La Marmite autogérée in downtown Chicoutimi. The participants did not fail tounderline their joy and their enthusiasm to the members of the collective infront of the return of the Marmite. Barely an hour after the start of theactivity, the entire contents of the large pot of spag had been distributed, thecoffee stove was empty and the dozens of eggs on the table had been given away.As in previous editions, this activity makes it possible to put forward theprinciples of cooperation and mutual aid, to put aside mediation and money, tohave interesting discussions on the different realities experienced downtown .But above all, to have a good time, time that does not benefit capital butresponds to our desires. For the occasion, the theme was: "Your groceries are growing? So are theirprofits". We heard many testimonies. There was this lady, living in aneighborhood on the outskirts, who was forced to sell her old car because of theincrease in the price of gas and who finds that public transport in Saguenay isdysfunctional, just like lighting for pedestrians, which is insufficient to saythe least when night falls in the city centre. Many participants also noted theincrease in the price of the grocery basket, but also the many fees or surchargespassed on to consumers due to the increase in the price of fuel. Others named theincreased cost of sending a package to the post office and snow removal fromprivate driveways as issues that add to the long list of difficulties in makingends meet. .We also spoke with a few international students recently settled in Saguenay whofeel like they're being passed over when it's time to pay the rent to theirlandlord. A sum that turns out to be far too expensive for the quality of theaccommodation. Faced with this situation, many are wondering where and who toturn to in this situation: the housing group, the university, the studentassociation, the municipality? Resources and information are, to say the least, unknown for these students. The war in Ukraine and the pandemic have a very broad back to justify thedramatic price increases of recent months. Much less is said about the recordprofits raked in by the grocery chains and the oil companies. In recent weeks, the price of a liter of gasoline has been falling but there is still nodifference in people's wallets. But it's a safe bet that the bourgeois at thehead of the big grocery chains will offer themselves a nice performance bonus atthe end of the year while crying crocodile tears over the global geopoliticalsituation by saying that they don't have no choice but to pass the bill on toconsumers.by Emma Goldman Collective http://ucl-saguenay.blogspot.com/2022/09/marmite-autogeree-votre-epicerie.html_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
