In its summer issue, Le Figaro Histoire publishes an interview with Pio Moa.
Former communist activist, now repentant, and author of a book, The Myths of theSpanish Civil War, he supports the thesis that the responsibility for theFrancoist coup of July 1936, and the war that followed, lies to the violence ofthe communists and anarchists who were preparing a revolution. ---- Le FigaroHistoire is delivering an anthology issue to us this summer 2022. First of all,its cover, in its own heroic and flamboyant style, highlights two conquistadorson horseback in a setting that one imagines of a South American forest, no doubtin search of Eldorado. ---- The main subject then, the Epic of the conquistadors,where we rehabilitate the figure of Cortes, apostle of interbreeding, unfairlycaricatured. By the way, it is amusing to see here Le Figaro Histoire presentinterbreeding in a positive light!But it is with an interview with the amateur historian Pio Moa, former militantof the Communist Party of Spain (PCE) and co-founder of the AntifascistResistance Groups of the First of October (Grapo) of Maoist inspiration, armedwing of the PCE created in 1975 and from which Moa was expelled in 1977.Pio Moa is the author of a book, The Myths of the Spanish War : 1936-1939,published in 2003 in Castilian and whose French translation was released lastMarch by L'Artilleur, a publisher whose latest works appear navigate betweenconspiracy, climatoscepticism or defense of the West threatened by globalism andanti-racism. No comments.The thesis defended by Pio Moa is quite simply that of the Francoists. It is only the repetitionof Franco's lies. Another subject of satisfaction for Le Figaro Histoire, andwhich is put forward, the author is a former leftist, which would make these"revelations" all the more sincere: "After having immersed himself in thearchives of the left, and particularly from the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers'Party), he deduced from this the unequivocal and overwhelming responsibility ofhis own camp in the outbreak of the war".The "bloody revolution" of communist or anarchist inspiration did not take place,but the toll of the civil war unleashed by Franco is known: hundreds of thousandsof deaths, 300,000 exiles and the suffering of forty years of dictatorship. Onthese unanimously recognized facts the Figaro is strangely silent.After the rehabilitation of Pétain, "savior of the Jews" by one of his formerfeathers, Éric Zemmour, Le Figaro Histoire in turn plunges with delight intorevisionism.
