On Thursday, October 27, and regarding the new Argentine edition, the

presentation of the book Free Women: Anarchism and the Struggle for theEmancipation of Women will take place at the headquarters of our foundation.Nadia Ledesma Prietto and María Migueláñez Martínez will participate in acolloquium with Martha Ackelsberg's text as a backdrop: a study of the social andpolitical conditions that allowed the emergence of this emancipatory movement inthe revolutionary Spain of 1936. ---- All The trajectories mentioned in thisbook, individual and collective, are inscribed in a context of internationaldeeds against fascism, of anti-repressive struggles within the differentcountries and also, particularly in the case of women, of the struggle to obtainacknowledgments of equality and difference in strongly patriarchal societies. Theexperience of Mujeres Libres is also inscribed in a context of struggle withintheir organizations, and here lies one of its peculiarities.Martha Ackelsberg's book brings us closer to a past experience and allows us,from our present, one, to problematize some of the issues that subsist inanarchist and feminist spaces, and, two, to ask ourselves about our own place inthose spaces. The voices of the free women that make up this book, including the author's,bring us closer to a process of collective and personal struggle, which goesbeyond telling us what happened. The book reveals with great acuity the internalplot of the investigation, delving into the experiences narrated by itsprotagonists, and invites us to understand how these women were able, in themidst of a war and as part of a revolutionary process, to try to build a world new. Some data from this edition: Free Women: Anarchism and the Struggle for Women'sEmancipation, Martha Ackelsberg.
