 On Thursday, October 27, and regarding the new Argentine edition, the

presentation of the book Free Women: Anarchism and the Struggle for the
Emancipation of Women will take place at the headquarters of our foundation.
Nadia Ledesma Prietto and María Migueláñez Martínez will participate in a
colloquium with Martha Ackelsberg's text as a backdrop: a study of the social and
political conditions that allowed the emergence of this emancipatory movement in
the revolutionary Spain of 1936. ---- All The trajectories mentioned in this
book, individual and collective, are inscribed in a context of international
deeds against fascism, of anti-repressive struggles within the different
countries and also, particularly in the case of women, of the struggle to obtain
acknowledgments of equality and difference in strongly patriarchal societies. The
experience of Mujeres Libres is also inscribed in a context of struggle within
their organizations, and here lies one of its peculiarities.

Martha Ackelsberg's book brings us closer to a past experience and allows us,
from our present, one, to problematize some of the issues that subsist in
anarchist and feminist spaces, and, two, to ask ourselves about our own place in
those spaces.

The voices of the free women that make up this book, including the author's,
bring us closer to a process of collective and personal struggle, which goes
beyond telling us what happened. The book reveals with great acuity the internal
plot of the investigation, delving into the experiences narrated by its
protagonists, and invites us to understand how these women were able, in the
midst of a war and as part of a revolutionary process, to try to build a world new.
