#WORLD #WORLDWIDE #ITALY #SICILIA #ANARCHISM #LIBRARY #(en) #Italy, .#Sicilia Libertaria: FOR A NETWORK OF THE ARCHIVES OF THE MOVEMENT IN SICILY - Natale Musarra (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

On December 3, 2022, a day of study and shared experiences on FARE ARCHIVIO was

held in Palermo in order to "enhance and disseminate the archives of socialmovements and struggles in Sicily". It was a first useful moment of reflection, comparison and exchange between realities that in Sicily, and especially inPalermo, deal with collecting, ordering and making accessible materialsconcerning the recent history of Sicilian movements. It was organized by the booq(the occupied library in the Kalsa district, transformed into a social promotionassociation in 2017), with the discreet collaboration of the ArchivalSuperintendence of Sicily. ---- The day revolved around two thematic cores: inthe morning the presentation of the site of the Limone Lunare archive(www.booqpa.org/archivio-limone-lunare-movimenti-politici-siciliani), which hasthe ambition to act as a Sicilian point of reference for the collection of paperdocuments and audiovisual testimonies of the 60s and 70s of the twentiethcentury, with particular reference to the political and poetic work of DaniloDolci; in the afternoon the "round table", with relative presentation, of thevarious archival realities of the movement in Sicily. The Limone Lunare archive, which currently collects a miscellaneous fund withmaterials, largely oral, on the Dolcino experiment in Partinico and on the"Pantera" of Palermo, the archive of Clara Salvo and the Canzoniere Popolare ofPalermo, and the Letizia Colajanni's archive relating to the struggles of thecommunist and women's organizations of the Caltanissetta area in the 1950s and1970s was born in 2021 thanks to a project financed by the Ministry of Culture. Its particular interest lies in the methodological questions that arose for itsrealization: a) archive of movements (such as, for example, the Documentationcenter of Pistoia or the homologous associations of Parma, Genoa and Trieste),aimed at centralizing internally the various collections, or node of a widernetwork, which, while dispensing technical skills and training, leaves ampleautonomy to the pre-existing archives? b) what relationships do we establish withstate archival institutes: of control, of otherness or of voluntarycollaboration? c) how to lead a disorganic, fluid, fragmented material parexcellence, produced under different subjective angles, to a unitary framework,as reliable as possible? d) in this regard, what synergy to look for and whetherto look for it with the historians of the movements? e) what does it mean to"enhance" the sources for the history of the movements and how can we escapetheir mercantile/institutional recovery, keeping their anti-systemic instancesalive? f) what value can be attributed to oral memories considering the highcriticality coefficient they contain? g) how to socialize the instrumentation(e.g. dedicated software), the technical skills, the single digital resources, interconnecting them with each other, bearing in mind that there are no "neutraltools"? h) is it therefore possible to start a joint search, acquisition andreconstruction of the missing sources? All issues that the round table in the afternoon reproposed in the kaleidoscopeof practices illustrated by the many comrades present, curators of archives(including that of the Sicilian Anarchists) and simple ex, or still active, militants of different political backgrounds. Thanks to the skilful direction ofFrancesca Di Pasquale (curator of the meeting together with Giulia Crisci, SaraManali and Michela Nalbone), it was avoided that the debate derailed on ancientand hateful controversies or planasse on always lurking protagonisms, we ended upsharing the idea of giving birth to a collective process, "as collective were themovements we deal with", using their archives "as spaces of open struggle" thatrefer to a Sicily, and to a Palermo in particular, far from the stereotyped imagethat is offered to tourists, where a strong subversive conflict has alwaysexisted or remains latent.Concretely, as a winning strategy, that of the flexible network has emerged, built from below, based on exchange and mutual support, independent of stateconservation institutes, according to a model already tested in various Germanand French realities. A network that is respectful of the histories, specificities and territoriality of the individual archives, which isresponsible, among other things, for finding new documentary material, saving itfrom neglect and destruction, for collecting oral testimonies, for makingaccessible as far as possible the various funds, make them known thanks to theuse of the digital tool, put them in common and finally make them an instrumentof political vindication.Musarra Christmashttps://www.sicilialibertaria.it/_________________________________________A - I N F O S  N E W S  S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.ca
