Yesterday night, the collective bargaining committee of the Ver.di trade union
and the employers' side agreed on a preliminary collective bargaining result intheir renewed negotiations for the public sector. Several one-off payments spreadover time are planned, as well as a wage increase of 5.5% from March 2024 and abase amount (i.e. a minimum amount that every worker will definitely receive). The degree should be valid for 24 months. This result more or less representswhat was proposed by the recently appointed Conciliation Commission. In mid-May,the employees should now vote on whether they want to accept this result.Although the leadership of Ver.di is already touting the result on all channelsand urging it to be adopted by making questionable art calculations, it isobvious that this result means nothing less than a cave-in on the employers'side. For almost all employees, this result represents at most an adjustment forinflation. For many employees, however, especially in the low-wage sector, itwill not even be enough. It is clear that more and more permanent wage increasesare being replaced by one-off payments. This is a bad deal for the workers, whichis made worse by the fact that the terms of the agreements and thus the time inwhich the employees are obliged to "work peace" (during this time no industrialaction against the provisions of the new collective agreement are led) , becominglonger and longer. It is therefore more than hypocritical when Ver.di bossWerneke talks about going to the "pain limit". Maybe that's the limit where theVer.di leadership can just about save face. For most employees, however, thisresult is well below the pain threshold. It is no wonder that there is currentlya justified storm of outrage from many colleagues and Ver.di members on social media. After the canceled forced strike at the post office, this is the second bucklingof the Ver.di leadership in recent weeks. It is clear that the union bureaucracyis doing everything it can to prevent an escalation of the industrial action - tothe applause of the bourgeois press and politicians. Please keep everythingwithin the framework of bureaucratic negotiations and not harm Germany as abusiness location. Actual strikes would only be a hindrance. It would be precisely these strikes - combined with other actions such asblockades or sabotage - that are the only means of pressure to push throughbetter deals. This will not happen with individual warning strikes in individualsectors, the only aim of which is to create some publicity and strengthen thebureaucracy's position in the negotiations. The result has yet to be agreed and is therefore not final. However, a look atpast votes shows that a rejection is very unlikely due to the high, undemocratichurdles and centralized structures of the DGB trade unions. So we see once againthat the leaderships of the reformist unions are the gravediggers of the classstruggle. It must be about denouncing their repeated betrayal of the employees, especially on the approaching May Day. And it must be about building a strongalternative to the DGB. The basis for such a new trade union movement can lie inthe Free Workers' Union. Let us therefore strengthen them with all our strength. And let us nevertheless support the forces that are fighting in Ver.di and theother reformist trade unions against acceptance of the wage agreement. Becausethis result must be rejected! For a clear sign against treason!https://www.dieplattform.org/2023/04/25/tarifergebnis-im-oeffentlichen-dienst-ver-di-fuehrung-knickt-wieder-ein/#more-2555_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
