We grow up with a lot of concepts and normalizations that we never ask
ourselves how we arrived at them. We never ask ourselves who or how thebus was invented, we just get on it and travel. ---- The same thinghappens with the various ideas of justice that we can have. In thisbrief text I want to stop at three specifically. ---- There is, on theone hand, legalistic justice, which would understand everything involvedin laws, judges, police and legalities. ---- The complicated thing aboutit is that its regulation is based on a vertical and centralizedcondition. It is complicated to understand that we have the same rightsas a judge. It is complicated to think that we can contribute to theimplementation of a law from our most concrete needs.We know very well that once the law has been cheated, it is not theother way around. We are surrounded by a corral determined by benefitsfor others who are not us, often determining our behavior or social actions.There are laws that are more integrated and beneficial than others, justas many were created for our benefit but we are always at the mercy of athird party for its exercise.In the second instance there is a justice to be called meritocratic andof a social construct. They taught us that it was like that. I think thebest example of this justice is every time a group of neighbors lynch alittle thief with extreme violence. What is behind that little thief andwhat is behind that catharsis? Violence, not justice, but somehow, thereare people who believe it is appropriate. As if beating a person upwould give us back something we lack, as if for this reason thieveswould cease to exist, or even more utopian, robberies themselves.There is no instance of contemplating the thief from equality. In thisranking where we position ourselves, we can understand that we are thethieves of the legalistic justice mentioned at the beginning of the text.How can we not feel like that little thief beaten by an entireneighborhood, every time looking for what is ours, there is a stateapparatus waiting to repress us? The constitutional reform of Jujuy isan example of this.Just as there are several ways of looking at justice, the same thinghappens with rights. Having an 8-hour day, is it a right or anobligation?
