Launched by more than a hundred organizations, the "Disarm Bolloré"
campaign aims to attack the fascist billionaire's industrial and mediaempire. It recently organized a mobilization in Finistère. ---- As part
of the national "Disarm Bolloré" campaign[1]launched this summer, a
rally in Concarneau was organized on Saturday, October 5 to denounce
Bolloré's hiring of Marc de Cacqueray-Valménier. This former head of the
GUD is now a henchman in the team of guards responsible for monitoring
the island of Loc'h, which the billionaire owns.
For the record, in 1947, Vincent Bolloré's uncle, Gwenn-Ael Bolloré,
made the island available to resistance fighters Hélène and Philippe
Viannay, who would organize sailing trips there for survivors of the
deportation or the maquis. It was from this initiative that the sailing
school "Les Glénans" was born. However, the career of the uncle of the
man who is now the owner of Cnews should not be idealized. Although he
did participate in the resistance as a member of the Kieffer commandos,
he also later chaired the editions of the Table-ronde, which published
several works by supporters of French Algeria.
A large gathering
While the first call for a festive armada of sailboats to join the
archipelago, the weather got the better of part of the initially
expected mobilization. A storm warning led the organizers to cancel the
navigation for which a hundred boats were registered. There was still
the mobilization on land which brought together half a thousand people,
gathering a wide range from libertarians to parties of the institutional
left (EELV, LFI). On site, several stands in particular of Solidaires,
Vigilance et initiatives syndicales antifascistes (VISA) and
Soulèvements de la Terre distributed documentation against the extreme
right in the middle of a small fair. A symbolic action took place from
the Hémérica, a boat of the Musée de la Pêche, to deploy the slogan "Île
Bolloré, neo-Nazis protected" against a background of bagpipes. The
strong union presence made it possible to highlight the increasingly
important role of a fringe of employers who are putting considerable
resources at the service of the battle for hegemony led by the extreme
right. Of course, at the forefront is Bolloré's media empire, which
maintains close ties with the fachosphere. The same Bolloré who
participates in financing the Institut libre de journalisme (ILDJ) in
order to train journalists who, tomorrow, will flood the French media
with hatred. Among his students, we find former candidates and
candidates of the National Rally or Reconquête, but also former members
of neo-Nazi groups.
For an open and united Brittany
The campaign against the Bolloré system and its attempt at cultural
hegemony is only just beginning. The Glénan archipelago is certainly not
the heart of the Bolloré empire. In fact, it is about challenging its
alliances, its political project and its vision of a Brittany closed in
on fantasized traditions. On the contrary, we will continue to bring to
life an open and united Brittany, in particular with all those who fight
against the Bolloré system, whether in France or internationally.
