Comrade Nikos Maziotis and his partner Pola Roupa since 2010, when they
were arrested for the first time and postponed the politicalresponsibility of participating in the Revolutionary Struggle, until
today they have been faced with years of imprisonment and the constant
vindictiveness of the state apparatus. This vindictiveness obviously
also has its cause, which is none other than the unyielding fighting
stance of the comrades and the defense of the political action, speech
and struggle choices of the organization through whose lines they acted.
The comrades, all these years, defended the right of the struggle for
the Social Revolution and stood with vigor against the brutality of the
state and capital, in a multitude of cases, through their public
positions, in the courtrooms, through the their struggles in prisons.
They did not let the state propaganda of the "construction of
terrorists" play ball alone and in an age of futility and individualism
they defended the right and necessity of the anarchist struggle and the
revolutionary cause.
The state and its mechanisms know very well how to distinguish their
enemies and exhaust their vengefulness and anger on them. In this case,
we see, in fact, that the state, with typical ease, annuls in practice
the "sanctuary" of its own laws in order to hurt its political
opponents. This is fully reflected both in the effort to re-imprison
comrade Pola Roupa, as well as in the constant rejections of the release
requests of comrade Nikos Maziotis.
In the case of Pola Roupa, while she has been released from prison with
restrictive conditions since November 2023, since then attempts have
been made to re-imprison her on the basis of the appeal against her
release decision, by the deputy prosecutor of appeals of Chalkida, an
appeal that is non-existent and a coup d'état, which has put her here
and one year in permanent captivity. It can be easily understood that
this is not an individual "initiative" of the puppet in question, but a
decision dictated by those high up in political power who were not
satisfied with the release of the comrade and intend to return her back
to prison. As for N. Maziotis, while from 2022 he meets the conditions
for conditional release and has now completed 4/5 of the actual serving
of his sentence, the judicial councils stubbornly refuse to approve the
applications for his release over the years. The constant negative
decisions of the judicial councils have a strong intellectual smell (as
they have no legal justification), seeking from the partner the
"conversion of his character", that is, a declaration of repentance and
political contrition. The comrade has replied, as befits the anarchist
historical tradition, that such a thing will never happen.
The application of these vengeful machinations of the state apparatus
against the condemned comrades for the action of the Revolutionary
Struggle is at stake during this period, with the judicial council of
Chalkida deciding on 10/1 whether P. Rupa will remain free or not and on
16/1 the decision on the release request of Nikos Maziotis will be heard
by the judicial council of Lamia. This is, in fact, the last request for
parole that the partner can submit, and if it is rejected, his
incarceration in prison will be extended at least until March 2027,
serving until the last day of his entire sentence, in an unprecedented
situation extermination of the comrade, which will set a particularly
unfavorable precedent in terms of the time served for other political
prisoners as well. Against the vindictiveness of the state towards the
anarchist fighters, against the effort of wise and exemplary punishment
towards the condemned comrades for the action of the Revolutionary
Struggle, which aims on the one hand to exterminate them and on the
other hand to "pass the message" of the omnipotence of the state against
politicians of the adversary, our response cannot be other than
solidarity and support until their final liberation.
