Nick Bostrom and Eliezer Yudkowsky are the two recognized pioneers of
the radical critique of Artificial Intelligence. The first one isavailable, in Italian, in Superintelligence. Tendencies, dangers,
strategies, Bollati Boringhieri, Turin 2018; the second one is available
in an extensive interview published by James Barrat, Our final
invention, Nutrimenti, 2019. Barrat gives voice to a group of inventors
and developers who, on logical and scientific grounds, question their
own ability to keep Artificial Intelligence under control. Éric Sadin,
in Critique of artificial reason, Luiss, Rome 2019, is the first to
address the issue from a philosophical point of view (see also, in
French, La vie spectrale, Grasset, Paris 2023), followed by David
Chalmers, More reality. Virtual worlds and the problems of philosophy,
Raffaello Cortina, Milan 2023. Cognitive robotics is discussed in
particular by Murray Shanahan, The revolt of the machines, Luiss, Rome
2018, and Frank Pasquale, The new laws of robotics, Luiss, Rome 2021. On
the social consequences of digital technology, one can usefully read
Theodore John Kaczynski (aka Unabomber), The industrial society and its
future, D Editore, Rome 2024; Renato Curcio, The virtual empire.
Colonization of the imaginary and social control, Sensibili alle foglie,
Rome 2015; Marco Piracci, Cyborg, La Fiaccola, Ragusa 2020. Finally,
Diletta Huyskes, Technology of revolution, ilSaggiatore, Milan 2024,
explicitly points the finger at the discrimination generated by
Artificial Intelligence.
