Tuesday, November 11, starting at 2 p.m. - At the pacifist war memorial
in Equeurdreville, May 8 Square ---- Cursed be war! ---- The millions ofwomen and men demonstrating around the world in solidarity with the
Palestinian people, victims of the genocide perpetrated by the State of
Israel, do so fully aware that tomorrow they themselves could become
victims of imperialism, of its economy based on war, the destruction of
humanity, and the extermination of entire peoples. ---- Neither in
Yemen, nor in Great Britain, nor most recently in Italy, where general
strikes and massive demonstrations have just taken place in support of
the Palestinians of Gaza and the West Bank, and of the solidarity
flotillas hijacked by the Israeli army, have the working people and the
youth forgotten the other wars waged by imperialism.
In the DRC and Sudan, to name just two countries, neocolonial policies,
with the complicity of local potentates and states, are deliberately
orchestrating the deaths of millions of women, men, and children.
Everywhere, wars claim civilian victims, subjecting them to drone
strikes, bombings, landmines, torture, rape as a weapon of war, sexual
slavery, forced displacement, famine, epidemics, and more. These are the
conditions that allow for the continued exploitation of these countries
and the plundering of their natural resources. But the people resist,
despite atrocious conditions, and imperialism sometimes suffers defeats.
This is the case in Niger, where Françafrique, its army, and its mining
trusts are beginning to be driven out. And the Venezuelan people are
preparing to resist Trump's aggression, which targets the country's oil
reserves and seeks to bring them to their knees. Just as with the
Palestinians. This is about the right of peoples to self-determination.
It is a sham to support, through arms and propaganda, a corrupt regime
like Zelensky's Ukraine, which represses the social and labor movement,
abducts citizens from the streets to enlist them in the carnage of the
trenches. As for the justifications for Russian aggression, they are
rooted in the cult of personality, the resurrected Orthodox religion,
propaganda designed to mask the mafia-like nature of the Russian
economy, in the hands of oligarchs just as criminal as those in Ukraine.
In both countries, the people are paying for hegemonic ambitions.
By supporting and defending Russian and Ukrainian deserters, we are
helping these two peoples to one day drive out the oligarchs and NATO
representatives and rediscover the fraternity that is the fundamental
aspiration of all peoples.
People reject war because they understand that war and its preparation
provide an opportunity to destroy public services, plunder social gains,
suppress freedoms, and plunge them into poverty. In France, for example,
the militarization of society, amplified by the mainstream media, aims
to terrorize the population in order to subjugate and train them in the
name of the military-industrial complex, nationalism, religion, and
patriarchy, while simultaneously legitimizing borders and flags.
For our organizations, November 11th is not the anniversary of victory;
it is an opportunity to reaffirm Jaurès's objectives: that the working
class, through its own methods-and the strike is the primary
one-organize the cessation of the war effort. Italy, in recent days, has
opened the door to this prospect. It must also be an opportunity to
relaunch the fight against the militarization of youth, which Macron's
failed government has not abandoned, despite the failure of the National
Universal Service (SNU): the "defense classes" must be vigorously
opposed, as well as the organized influence of the army in all
institutions, including cultural and healthcare ones.
Just as in 1914 the German people were not the enemy of the French
people, today the Russian, Israeli, or Turkish people are not our enemy.
The same is true for racialized populations, immigrants or not, targeted
in the same rhetoric by all reactionaries, whether of the declared or
shameful far right.
War on war and peace to the homes!
The enemy is within our own country: it is the war camp, the State, and
Capital!
Defense of deserters, refuseniks, and conscientious objectors.
No to the militarization of youth and society!
Rehabilitation of those executed as examples.
