Once again, the Turkish state is launching a campaign of unprovoked aggression
against the Kurds to distract from Turkey's various problems after two decades ofunchallenged rule by Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the AKP. ---- On November 20 atmidnight, Turkish warplanes began bombing hospitals, schools and other civiliantargets in and around Kobanê, including the village of Beluniyê in Shahba,southwest of Kobanê , which is now populated by displaced Kurds from Afrin, aswell as the village of Teqil Beqil near Qerecox in Dêrik, in the eastern part ofthe autonomous region of northern and eastern Syria. Turkish warplanes alsotargeted the grain depot in the Dahir al-Arab region near Zirgan and the areas ofthe Qendil and Asos mountains in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).The November 13 terrorist attack in Taksim, Istanbul, was planned and executed bythe ruling Turkish AKP-MHP regime to provide a pretext for these deadly attacks.Without any investigation, the Turkish regime blamed the attack on the People'sProtection Units (YPG), the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) and the KurdistanWorkers' Party (PKK). Despite the immediate and vehement rejection of thisbaseless accusation by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF, the umbrellaorganization that includes the YPG and YPJ) and the PKK, Turkish InteriorMinister Süleyman Soylu, who has a long history of hostility towards the Kurdishpeople, continues to preach this lie in the name of the Turkish State.Since April 17, the Erdogan regime has repeatedly attacked Kurdish guerrillapositions in southern Kurdistan, using banned chemical weapons more than 2,700times. However, the Turkish state achieved nothing with these attacks and Turkishforces burned the bodies of their own soldiers to hide the extent of theirlosses. With the recent false flag attack in Taksim, Erdogan and the AKP-MHP hopeto further distract from their defeat in southern Kurdistan and justify theescalation of their war against the Kurds in Rojava/north and eastern Syria.Erdogan's crumbling regime can only stay in power by overcoming the historicalresistance of the Kurdish people to their neo-Ottoman occupation of Kurdistan.With the Taksim bombing, Erdogan hoped to present Turkey as a victim ofKurdish-perpetrated terrorism in order to get the green light for an attack onRojava at the G20 summit in Bali, and he seems to have succeeded, because theTurkish regime is unable to undertake such attacks without the approval of theinternational coalition to defeat Daesh, especially that of the United States.If the coalition is against this illegal war, then its members must immediatelytake economic, political, diplomatic and legal measures to force Turkey to complywith international law.
