Tuesday, 12th August
Film- and Picture-show on Frontex and migrant struggles at the outer border (at Karpouzi)
dear all
on monday two greek ministers and mrs Malström visited miltini,
specially the new detention in Moria .
they all stood at the fence talking with the refugees , mainly syrians
who obviously complained about being inprisoned.
the answer of the minister was :
"we are welcoming you here in this respectfull and human place but you
have to respect the laws of the country you arived in..."
Also Mrs Malström was very pleased she said to the media, of what she saw!
we from "village of all together" had contacted mrs malström before her
coming, inviting her to PIKPA and to exchange with us.
since she politely answered that her programm is too short for new
things, we wrote her an email explaining her everything:
that the coastguard has asked us to use PIKPA since two weeks as a first
place to put the new ariving refugees for few hours before bringing them
to Moria.
that we accepted. that they since then the harbour is empty and daily
around 100 people are brouhgt from the police to us, leaving them
sometimes even 6 days in PIKPA.
that we are a selforganised welcome space but can not and dont want to
replace the duties of the goverment.
we send her the link to the intreviews with 40 detenies in Moria who
said what the worts experaice in moria detention was, "voyces from inside".
lesvos.w2eu.net
so mrs Malström new the reality, but still talked with apreciation about
the detention of moria, which was specially emptied the days before and
prepared like usualy, for the oficial visitors.
what mrs malström but also the ministres could not see was today in the
first page of the lokal newspaper EMPROS:
http://www.emprosnet.gr/article/61849-lymata-se-rema
the sewage system of the detention was never planned really so a
neighbour having fields is complaining that the area is full of dirty
waters running over from the containers in Moria detention. also it was
published that there was no planning for the water for the over 1.000
detenies place and only now that all building are finnished, they
requested to get atached to the water suplies of the village of Moria.
since in mitilini generally, and in Moria specially, there is water
shortage and everyday few hours nobody has water, the lokal authorities
who had also said oficially that they are against a detention center,
are not willing to give water.
so what mrs malström doesn t know, but everybody else in town does, is
that the great new detention has no place to put the shit and no water.
all this should not be known because the two ministers presented the
nice detention build whith european money and asked for even more money
from the european union .
understandable since they have now to pay everyday a car to come and
empty the small sewage system.
and the best is the last:
the minister Varvitsiotis made a press conferenz after mrs Malström
left, in miltini and told among others to the lokal media who asked him
what he thinks about the using of PIKPA and THE VILLAGE OF ALL TOGETHER
by the greek coastguard since weeks to get reed of the new ariving
refugees and hide them from the tourists in the harbour. his answer: "he
knows only the doctors of the world, the UNHCR and everything else is a
SQUAT!"
then he went to visit the prefect and asked him for the PIKPA to use it
as a innoficial first reception.
the prefect asked him if he could provide like the VILLAGE OF ALL
TOGETHER does, enough people to run the place. his answer was no so the
prefect said also no.

we here are not sure if we should laugh or cry with all this but i
thought its good that more people know.
sorry for my englisch...
greets marily
(No problem Marily , i have the same problem :-) )
