130,000 badgers to be ruthlessly killed on UK Government's orders, and for no good reason. Sign Now Dear friends, 130,000 badgers could be killed by the UK Government's irresponsible culling programme. Scientists oppose the cull, and the 2013 culls were damned as both "inhumane" and "ineffective" at stopping the spread of disease by the government-appointed Independent Expert Panel. We need to make the British Government listen to the experts. Tell the UK Government to stop killing badgers today. The Government claims that badgers spread tuberculosis (TB) to cattle, but evidence for this is disputed. Even if it were true, the badgers they're killing aren't being tested for TB. Most of them will be healthy, when they are lured out of their dens with peanuts, trapped in a cage for hours, and eventually shot in the head. The people killing the badgers are paid by the Government to commit these senseless acts. All this killing could even make the risk of spreading TB worse. The cull disrupts badgers' territorial lines, causing healthy badgers to migrate into potentially infected areas. There is an alternative proven solution to TB in cattle, and it does not involve killing badgers. Studies have shown that vaccinating badgers and limiting contact between herds of cattle does reduce incidents of TB in cattle herds. Farming groups are lobbying the UK Government to continue their cull, because they don't want to change their intensive farming methods in ways that might cost them money. We must make sure our voice is louder than theirs!
