Dear friends, Depression, shame, self-hatred. This is what happens when LGBTQ+ youth are subjected to the psychological abuse that perpetrators call "conversion therapy". It is not possible to force someone else to change their sexuality. Whilst advocates of conversion therapy claim otherwise, all they are really doing is shaming LGBTQ+ people into denying who they are attracted to. Being gay is not an illness, and cannot be 'cured'. Attempts to do so can lead to the suicide of the victim. Conversion therapy is harmful and must be banned. Young people may be just starting to figure out their own sexuality, and pushing them towards a sexuality that doesn't feel natural to them is wrong. In Indiana, USA, there are no laws protecting young people from the psychological abuse of conversion therapy. This has to change.
