After a long time, we are again renewing the Black-Red Pacifier section, into
which we are reprinting an article that appeared in the anarcho-feminist magazine
Prímá cesta in 2003. ---- Patriarchal society places greater emphasis on
education in women, in whom the role of mothers is understood as something
natural. This was especially true before, nowadays, thanks to the activity of
many women and men, the view of women is changing. The role of the mother is
understood as something that is important in her life, but it is not the only
role she acquires. For these reasons, the role of mothers has a clearer content
than the role of fathers. So it is more precise what society expects from mothers
than from fathers. Women get an idea of their role as mothers relatively soon,
because their parents pass it on to them from an early age. Their effects are
often made easier by the toys they buy for little girls. Dolls or cooking
utensils only foreshadow later reality. When a woman later becomes a mother, she
is expected to change her lifestyle and adapt it to the needs of the offspring
for at least some time. It seems obvious that a "fresh" mother will identify with
this role and cope with all the changes. He is expected to know how to treat a
child, how to calm him down, put him to sleep, etc. It follows that the birth of
a child brings great changes for a woman. And what changes does it bring to men?
It might seem that the new mother has her hands full, while the father spends
more time at work than before.
The birth of a child as a big break in the relationship?
After the birth of a child, big changes will take place in the partnership. A
fragile newborn becomes primarily the subject of the mother's care. Fathers are
often excluded from this mysterious mother-child relationship. There are several
reasons for this. One of them is the workload of fathers, which sometimes
increases to partially replace the absence of a woman's income. As a result, they
do not have time for their offspring until the evening after returning from work.
At this time, the small child is sometimes asleep or tired and uncomfortable.
After a while, the father may feel like a foreigner. The child makes progress
that the father escapes. Another important reason for "deportation" is the
approach that the mother is naturally closer to the child and that the father
would not be able to take care of the child properly. This approach is often
shared by the mother, father and immediate surroundings (friends, extended
family). He shows allusions such as: "Show me, I'd rather do it myself." "How the
hell are you holding him. "It is true that fathers sometimes look quite clumsy at
the first contact. This is related to their previous experience, during which,
unlike women, they probably did not have to take care of younger siblings or
other relatives. S. Biddulph describes the reasons for his father's 'clumsiness':
excitement. We simply did not have enough role models to learn from fatherly
behavior "(Biddulph, S., 1999, p. 113). As a result, it is possible to change
men's ability to care for their offspring. It is just an experience that fathers
must gain and skills that they can learn, just as women have learned during their
lives. A great role is played by the mentioned distrust of the surroundings and
the father himself, which makes it difficult for him to try to take care of his
offspring. It is no wonder that iots who would care about their share in care
prefer to remain in their role as passive members observing the communication
between mother and child.
Is the newborn really closer to his mother?
The second thing, however, remains the question of whether the child is closer to
the mother. It is certainly necessary to take into account that the baby develops
in the mother's body for 9 months. During that time, he gets everything he needs
from her body. It can be said that at this time he is really closer to his
mother, because he is inside her body. Although it is true that before birth, the
baby recognizes different voices, so he can also perceive the father's voice.
After birth, the child requires care, needs to satisfy basic needs such as
drinking, eating, feeling safe, etc. For the first half year, the child perceives
the caring person or persons as the environment that surrounds him. This means
that it does not recognize which person is caring for them. The child perceives
hunger and thirst as tension, it causes crying as a sign of dissatisfaction. When
the fulfillment of need comes (ie the child gets to eat), the child is satisfied
again. He perceives the interventions of caregivers as a reaction of the
environment caused by his crying. If the environment is understanding (ie meeting
the needs of the child comes), the child is developing well. At about the 7th
month, the child develops a specific relationship with the caregiver, which is
very important for his healthy development. This means that the child learns to
perceive the person who cares most about him, with whom he spends the most time.
Therefore, it does not have to be a mother, but still a father or another person.
In a child's behavior, this change is reflected in the fact that the child
requires the presence of the person concerned. René Spitz (Spitz, R. in
Langmeier, J., 1998, p. 60), a significantly psychoanalytically oriented
researcher, contributed to this knowledge, and further research confirmed it. It
must be said that the literature emphasizes just one relationship that the child
establishes with the caregiver. Emphasis is placed on the function of the first
relationship, thanks to which the child basically learns to form further
relationships. Research to find out how things work when two children are cared
for equally is not very common. This is probably due to the classic concept that
at least in the first year it is mainly the mother (biological or adoptive) who
takes care of the child. The fact that it is virtually impossible for both
parents to take care of the child in the same way, because they would not be able
to afford it for financial reasons, may also play a role. Related to this is the
possibility that, in terms of the use of labor, the same care of both parents
would be perceived as undesirable. Therefore, it can be understood as a
purposeful emphasis on the need for one receptive parent who will take care of
the child most of the time. The few mentions that can be found in the literature
show that the baby at 7 months is able to maintain more relationships. R. Smahel
states that in 18.
The role of the father in books on education
The approach, which perceives the father as secondary in the first years of the
child's life, is significantly reflected in the books on upbringing. Mentions of
mothers, pictures and photos of women appear much more often in them. He appeals
more to mothers than to parents. For example, in R. Smahel's book Home to
Experience- Creating a Home is a chapter focused on how to make contact with a
newborn. Although it is logical that this question concerns both parents, its
name is "Mother's contact with the child". It is true that the chapter Modern
Father appears in the same book, which clearly states that care should be divided
between both parents. "A modern father is a father who takes responsibility for
the general security of his child. Today, there are fewer and fewer fathers who
would alienate their children and deny themselves all nice family moments, and
most importantly, they would deprive themselves of the joy of how children grow.
The modern father is active rather than passive. He organizes the day so that he
will soon return from work and see his children. He spends time with them
playing, showing them new things, helping them in their hobbies, taking them with
him where the ion itself feels good. From the first day she participates in the
care of the newborn, repackages it, he gets up in the middle of the night to feed
him, helps with bathing, later reads him fairy tales, plays with him and sings to
him before bed. A modern father is not a stranger who shows up here and there. He
is a full-time parent, and each member of the family gains "(Smahel, R., 1995, p.
45). This passage may sound optimistic, but also idealistic. Although the author
sees the role of a modern father in this way, it does not manifest itself so much
during the next text. Sentences such as "Mother should not waste time cooking
food that the child does not want at the moment" appear (p. 52), "Mothers should
never worry about their child not eating enough (..) The mother should realize
that she cannot force the child his will "(p. 51). For more general rules, the
author uses the term parent or "we shouldn't, you shouldn't". It seems that the
author is trying to live up to the "modern" trend where parents share the care of
their offspring, but still presupposes greater maternal activity. The father acts
as an anonymous "workforce" within the parents. As for the mother-child
relationship, it adheres to the traditional concept. "Many researchers show how
the mother intuitively captures the optimal position of the child, which
contributes to his increased vigilance, and thus readiness to contact, and how
skillfully holds him, even if it is her first child and never learned it" (p.
28). The author ignores the possibility that a woman learns many childcare skills
during her lifetime and that she has more opportunities to come into contact with
them, as opposed to a man. Instead, it presupposes a maternal instinct, thanks to
which the mother takes great care of her child. "The child forms a symbiotic
relationship with the mother and is to gain basic trust in the world as well as
basic preconditions for the later ability to live in full-fledged interpersonal
relationships. If a mother does not give her child enough care, tenderness and
general closeness in the first year, she will create a basic distrust of herself,
a distrust of other people and the whole world. " (p. 31). The author rightly
emphasizes the key importance of the first year for the child's ability to
develop well and create quality interpersonal relationships. Unfortunately, this
important task relates purely to the mother, who attaches the main importance. In
this sense, it adheres to the traditional concept, which is already obsolete, as
indicated above. Z. Matejcek deals with surrogate family care and emphasizes the
importance of warm, receptive and constant care during the first years of life,
regardless of whether it is provided by a biological mother or another person.
Although Matejcek uses the term "mother" for this occasion, so he attributes the
necessary care of another person to "mother" features. I.e, that if "maternity"
care is provided by another person (eg father), it is a substitute for the
mother. Even in this concept, the traditional emphasis on the mother as a
caregiver persists, which in the worst case can be replaced by another person who
will strive for the same "maternal" care. The situation where the child is not
cared for by the mother is therefore understood as a crisis, not as an equivalent
alternative.
Books about raising young children seem to send conflicting signals to fathers.
On the one hand, they try to appeal to the importance of their activities in the
family and their involvement in raising children. On the other hand, they often
emphasize the special abilities and skills of the mother and her better
preconditions in general. Nevertheless, chapters sometimes appear in books about
the importance of dividing childcare between both parents. Unfortunately, the
truth is that they seldom relate to the satisfaction of mothers and fathers and
to the equal distribution of domestic work. Rather, it emphasizes the need for
fathers to be present so that their sons can assume a male role. And to succeed
as men in the world, to learn to obey authority. Often, the absence of the father
in the family is understood as a risk factor that increases the likelihood that
the offspring will not comply with society's standards (occurrence of addictions,
crime, etc.). The same is true of daughters who, according to their father's
books, need to learn to treat men. Most books seem to understand the reasons for
the importance of the father in the family mainly normatively. Among other
things, the books reinforce the understanding of the nuclear family as the only
correct one, other variants either do not mention at all or only as crisis
options, which in any case impoverish the child. In this sense, it should be
recalled that the nuclear family model is one possibility. As another option, we
can name a community in which childcare will be a matter not only of the parents,
but of all members of the community. Or we can mention the coexistence of two
people of the same sex, which can be an equally good home. Among other things,
the books reinforce the understanding of the nuclear family as the only correct

Books also sometimes see the father (or the complete nuclear family) as a
guarantee that the descendants are successfully socializing. This simply means
that they will accept the values and standards of society and follow them. A few
examples: "The father's absence hurts and harms the daughters, but he literally
destroys the sons. Whether these boys show frustration with aggressive behavior
or try to compensate for it by still being on their mother's heels, without
behavioral patterns, they will not learn a male role. (...) If David has a
teacher at school, he lives only with his mother, sometimes his grandmother
watches over him, and from other people he sees his mother's friends, who come to
visit them from time to time, he can't learn anything from the male role. The
lack of men in the lives of boys is a major problem in our society "(Biddulph,
S., 1999, p. 109). "The inclination of all fathers to the more positive,
fulfilling their fatherly role more intelligently would change the whole of
society for the better. More effective fatherhood could effectively eliminate
problems that threaten humanity, such as crime, drug use, and violence
"(Yablonsky, L., 1990, p. 11). "Dads keep teenagers in the bar. Perhaps Freud was
right: statistically, a teenage boy without a father is in trouble "(Kropp, P.,
2001, p. 177). It can be said that the books bring positives in that they support
their fathers in their interest in their descendants and that they give them the
courage to approach them. They balance their importance for children with the
importance of the mother, they do not reduce their value. Negative are the
reasons why they "praise" fathers. In order to create the male roles of boys and
their proper functioning, they discover the hidden abilities of loving fathers.
They emphasize the contribution of fathers in terms of performance, practical
skills, intellectual abilities of the offspring. The influence of fathers and
mothers in the conception of these books remains clearly divided into male and
female issues, to which they are to dedicate their descendants according to
gender. Often, these books boast of research that has been conducted in reputable
clinics. It should be borne in mind that most research is based on the prevailing
opinion in society or on the researcher's idea. They can be a good means of
promoting a certain approach, as has been shown not only in the upbringing of
children. that most research is based on the prevailing opinion in society or on

Conclusion
In conclusion, I would like to say that the aim of this text was to refute the
idea that a newborn child forms a special relationship with the mother, from
which the father falls out. This approach is based on established stereotypes
that are not based on any evidence. Related to this is the other aim of this
article, namely to remind that the patriarchal organization of society limits not
only women but also men. This means that existing stereotypes can also bring
disadvantages to men that they often may not be aware of at all. This problem is
just one of them. The child is as much a mother as a father, it only depends on
them how they will take care of them. Equally distributed care for the newborn
brings benefits to the mother, father and child. Thus, the birth of a child does
not necessarily mean a disruption of the partnership, as is sometimes stated in
the literature. Of course, equal access to child care declassifies the birth of a
new creature.
What can each of us do to improve this situation? If we have children, we can try
to overcome stereotypes experienced in our actions. If not, let us give courage
to fathers and mothers so that they can share the care of their offspring without
prejudice to the abilities of the other parent. Let us encourage mothers not to
underestimate fathers and fathers to trust each other and not be afraid to take
responsibility for caring for their offspring.

"Whoever wants to drown his dog, accuses him of rabies.Islamophobia feeds on all
the fantasies and clichés about Islam and people of Muslim faith to justify its
misdeeds. This is how the banner of feminism and secularism is brandished
opportunistically, just in defiance of feminism and secularism. ---- How to
explain the speeches of feminists or politicians in the media against Muslims or
assimilated as such ? It is a question of justifying a certain racism by the
defense of progressive values. The imagination in the background is that of
French and white women who should be protected against Arab and black men who are
supposed to be predators. ---- This racist view is widely associated with
migrants. In fact, Muslim women are the first to be impacted by this ideology
which claims to defend women: they should be freed from the yoke of their
husbands, brothers, fathers and communities, by revealing them. Which is
reminiscent of the colonial era in Algeria, this current phenomenon being the
continuum.
A colonialism still alive
The law on street harassment is one example of this mentality: Arab men would
harass French women in the street, while white men would not pose a problem
(except in the case of Darmanin, Baupin, hissed women in the street). Assembly
for their outfits, etc.). Again, some men tell us how to free ourselves, even
want to free us themselves. But this is clearly an instrumentalisation of the
feminist struggle.
In the government, ministers hold this type of speech while their pension reform
will penalize women in the first place, that wages are still unequal, that
gender-based and sexual violence continues unabated ... We think of the words of
Blanquer (the port of the veil "is not his conception of the liberation of women"
), Sarkozy or Valls and others.
The factory of the savage
After the Algerian war, a national trauma for the far right, and even before, the
face of the Algerian man was ultravirilized, even animalized. Certain
emancipation movements, particularly in favor of homosexuality, have conveyed
equally dehumanizing fantasies around Arabs. The orientalist vision essentializes
individuals, makes them interchangeable, and therefore inferior.
Some white feminists visible in the media can fall into racism by essentializing
populations of immigrant origin - the articulation of the specific struggles of
racialized women is an already old debate in feminism[1]. The question for us is
therefore the articulation of anti-racist and feminist struggles. Feminists can
participate in the fetishization, in the humiliation of Arab or black men,
alongside the capitalist system of subjugation and the police and judicial system
of control of working-class neighborhoods.
Haro on veiled mothers
The Islamophobes specifically target veiled women, under the guise of either
secularism or the defense of Christian-white-European identity. The principle of
secularism is totally misguided in order to stigmatize mothers wearing
headscarves and Muslim women in general. Recall that Article 1 st of the 1905 law
ensures freedom of conscience and freedom of worship. It is about protecting
citizens against any discrimination. The freedoms of conscience and worship
presuppose freedom of expression.
The law certainly does not refer religious practice to the realm of the intimate
and does not require that we all be dressed and thinking alike. Article 2
specifies that the State is neutral, and therefore its representatives as well.
But the public space is not concerned. In 2013, the Council of State clearly
reaffirms that, unlike public service agents, parents participating in school
trips are not subject to the duty of neutrality.
Uncover yourself, free yourself !
Muslim women do not need to be liberated, or educated, they are able to make
their choices. Wearing a headscarf is not unequivocal, they can choose to wear it
or not to wear it for various reasons, a choice that is theirs and that they do
not have to justify.
Did feminists fight to ensure that we all had to wear a short skirt or that we
were all free in our bodies and our clothing choices? This process of
dehumanization of those who wear the headscarf is total, since no one wonders
about what they feel, what their children are going through who are traumatized
by the treatment inflicted on their mothers, all in a school which then will
dispense the republican catechism "freedom, equality, fraternity" and the total
gap between this discourse that is served to them and what they observe every day.
What strength and what dignity must these mothers of families show to survive,
for their children? Muslims and Muslims, and especially mothers who wear
headscarves, suffer the full brunt of this violence, in the street, at their
workplace, at school, in the media.
Anti-racist Commission
LEFT CLIVES
If the far right is often at the forefront of Islamophobia (the RN in France, the
Party for Freedom in the Netherlands, the AfD or PEGIDA in Germany), the left is
no exception. .
Since 2004, in addition to the PS which has participated in strengthening
Islamophobic devices in France, all the more or less radical left parties have
multiplied Islamophobic outings or in the best case have remained very timid in
denouncing discrimination.
The particularity of Islamophobia is to mobilize progressive fights:
instrumentalisation of feminism and LGBTI struggles, of freedom of expression, of
secularism ... All this is a source of ambiguities on the left, whose great
responsibility in colonization is often minimized: universalist values and the
progressive struggle have often been mobilized in the past to justify the
"civilizing mission".
The anti-religious struggle and militant atheism must in no case be misled and
instrumentalized to stigmatize a particular religious minority. It should be
understood that the expression of Islamophobia, even on the extreme left and in
the unions, feeds divisions, oppositions within the struggles and therefore
resentment making any convergence impossible.

---- In detail, this case is as follows: ---- In March 2020, the Dragon Sweater
plant in Dhaka, Bangladesh, closed and laid off 6,000 workers under the guise of
the CoViD-19 pandemic. The owners decided to fire the employees overnight without
paying compensation, wages due and bonus payments. Now the workers have nothing
and are therefore dependent on food aid. Most of them are organized with the
Garment Workers' Union (GWTUC) and have been on the streets for months. The
International Labor Confederation (ICL) has called for international solidarity
with workers and many actions have already been organized around the world:
https://www.icl-cit.org/solidarity-with-dragon-group-workers-spreads-across
-the-globe /. A few weeks ago, the owners agreed to pay half the amount owed to
the employees. But in the end they did not pay a penny. About 300 of them are
still regularly involved in protests, others have been forced to seek alternative
incomes. GWTUC aims to provide 300 resilient workers with daily meals as well as
basic medical treatments. For each worker the cost is estimated at 100 tk (taka)
per day. 100 tk = 1 €. For the support of all 300 employees, approximately 9,000
€ are needed every month. Hence, The International Labor Confederation (ICL)
Working Group on Asia - coordinated with the GWTUC and supported by the Hamburg
Free Workers 'Association (FAU) and the World Industrial Workers' Association

The Polish Union of Syndicalists (ZSP, a section of the International Workers'
Association) in Warsaw is currently in a labor conflict with the administration
of the Tumiray Therapy and Diagnostic Center and the book trade company of
Jaroslaw Granos. ---- The Center for Preschool Education and Educational Center
for Therapy and Diagnostics "Tumiray", located in the Ursus district at 86
Rkgulskaya Street, did not pay the money they earned to 3 employees, including a
school psychologist and speech therapist. They have to wait months for their
salary and money for unused vacations. Employees also face the fact that they do
not receive the required social benefits, since the authorities did not provide
the correct data to the social insurance department, and they need it for further
employment. At the end of July, the IWE foundation that opened the school decided
to cease its activities, and the foundation's management set up a commercial
company in March. They are not going to close the school, it continues to work,
but now under a different name, and the owners declare,
ZSP decided to organize protests in front of the school. Trade union
representatives also visited the labor inspectorate, but once again they were
convinced that it is powerless, because the state actually covers the theft of
wages. The only thing. what remains for employees is organization, mutual
assistance and direct action (

The anarcho-syndicalist union has been campaigning against Tumiray since October.
Two pickets have already been held in front of the educational center. A former
boss complained about police officers, accusing them of "screaming and making
noise"; they had to visit the police station, but they were not afraid. ZSP
intends to continue the protests until the justified demands of the workers are
met (

For almost a month, the Indian capital New Delhi has become the epicenter of huge
demonstrations that are likely to affect the entire country in the days to come.
---- Since September, hundreds of thousands of peasants have been demonstrating
against a series of laws that seek to liberalize the agricultural market. Until
then, the peasants benefited from fixed prices on their products, guaranteeing a
stable income. These new laws, however, want to eliminate the regulatory role of
the State, and pave the way for direct negotiations between producers and private
sector actors such as supermarkets. Contrary to what Modi wants us to believe, he
does not "liberate" the peasants from "tyranny ".»Intermediaries, these laws are
the first step towards a gradual liberalization of the agricultural sector, the
sole purpose of which is to deliver the entire sector to the hands of the large
agri-food groups and international competition, as has already been experienced.
by the agricultural world in France.
Faced with the deafness of the government of Modi, the peasants who are currently
blocking the main roads of New Delhi, have started a hunger strike since December
14, 2020. The courageous actions of these peasants incite various parts of the
community. Indian population to demonstrate as well. Whether it is students,
industrial workers, railway workers, or bank employees, all have understood that,
"No farmers means no food" * and respond en masse to the call for a general
strike. As of November 26, there were already 250 million strikers in the
streets, making this movement the largest simultaneous strike movement in human
history. And yet, the press barely covers it.
All over the world, whether in Asia, Africa, Latin America, or Europe, peasants
are the victims of an economic system that preaches exploitation and oppression
as a "liberating" virtue and "rewarding" ... Not for everyone.
This movement in India shows once again that it is we, peasants, railway workers,
nurses, teachers, unemployed, etc., that is to say the people, who have the real
deal. power. Governments and capitalists may have the guns and the money and the
power, but we have the fields and the tractors, the seeds and the horses, and
without them the elites crumble.
We, simple supporters of human liberation in all parts of the world, therefore
declare our full solidarity with Indian comrades in the streets of Delhi, Andhra
Pradesh, Chennai, Punjab, and throughout the world. .

20,000 new cases! 450 new deaths! The rate of cases is decreasing! The R number
is decreasing! ---- Death and human suffering is masked behind general
statistics. We no longer hear about real people who have got the disease nor do
we hear much about what is actually going on in hospitals. The other omission is
any real evidence for how and where the virus is spreading. There is some more
information in other countries such as Germany where the track and trace system
is working much better, however in the UK we have no idea. Knowing what settings
are likely to spread Covid is vital for any lockdown strategy. ---- When the
number of cases increase, the government targets the hospitality industry and
social gatherings. The implication is that these are the main source of the
increase. You can find examples of social gatherings that went against guidelines
but no information as to if Covid spread from that event. Googling "where do
people get Covid-19)" gives very little.
This means that maybe we need to start using our own experience and basic logic
to work out what settings are likely to spread the disease. Recently, a number of
schools were shut down in South Wales. The council blamed parties and pub crawls.
The claim is that the schools are safe but the problem lies with what happens
outside schools.
This has been the government's claim from the start- schools are not a major
spreader and therefore can remain open. But what does our own experience tell us?
Again, a search around the internet can be very frustrating. Statistics are very
localised. Even the National Education Union- the biggest union in schools has
little information. For example, Havering Sixth Form College in outer East
London, one of the worst affected boroughs at the moment, went out on strike over
safety. But there is nothing about this strike on either the national or local
Havering NEU website. News about it can only be found in the local paper. As
would be expected, there is not that much detail about why people are on strike
and the counterclaim of the head, that there are no safety problems, is stressed.
It is highly unlikely that staff are striking for no good reason, so why is the
union making more of this important strike? Are there other school strikes that
we don't know about?
So it seems we cannot rely on the news, or even a major union website, to provide
us with information about how safe schools are.
Nevertheless, hunting down sources, a more accurate and detailed picture begins
to emerge. The Independent Sage group is one of the more reliable places to get
information. Their research on schools was summarised in an article in The
Independent on Nov 27th. It is clear from this report that schools are not safe
places. The infection rate amongst secondary school pupils has "soared 50-fold
since classrooms reopened in September. Teenagers aged 11-16 are now the age
group with the highest levels of infection in England, and one in ten are
reported to be off school either because of confirmed or suspected coronavirus or
because they have been in contact with a potentially contagious person. And,
"Children and young people at school tend to have a wide transmission circle
which can endanger parents and grandparents. Whilst wishing to minimise
disruption to children's education, stricter guidelines are urgently needed for
reducing opportunities for infection.""In some areas, infections among teenagers
equated to one for every class of 30, said Independent Sage experts."
Another important source of information, unlike its English equivalent, is the
Scottish teaching union the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS). They have
launched a campaign- Not at all Costs, which campaigns for Covid-safe schools.
Not only does it provide information on ballots for strikes and other actions but
has also done some in-depths to find out what it is actually like to work in a
school.
They have issued a number of briefing papers based on surveys with thousands of
their members. At last we can hear exactly what it is like for staff. Here is a
selection of some of the comments.
"On the surface, the school seems to be implementing procedures but nothing is
enforced if pupils do not comply. It is impossible, due to pupil behaviour, to
stay 2m away at all times as circulating room is necessary for any teaching and
learning to take place in some classes. Pupils have no regard for staying 2m away
and often refuse to wear masks. Getting them to sanitise hands etc is a chore in
itself. Losing battle as government are saying that we can't do anything if they
don't wear masks. Feel like safety of teachers and other school staff is of no
importance to govt, no PPE provided and expected to mix with 150+ pupils a day.
Is it going to take deaths before we are taken seriously.
"Rooms are unable to be ventilated- windows and doors open since August. Despite
this, we are being told to shut windows now due to cold. Huge workload pressure
due to additional assessments and support. Pupils refusing to abide by guidelines
and coughing on you if you need to redirect behaviour. Oversubscribed classes34
pupils in a room. It is not safe."
"School is not following advice fully. It is impossible to stay away from
children. The behaviour in our school is terrible. Children are wandering around
the corridors, running away from class, behaving aggressively and we are expected
to teach the curriculum. It is very difficult to teach with the added fear of
covid and the obvious stress of the children. I have spent two weeks in isolation
due to a positive case, we had been in a training as a staff and I sat in the
child's chair, it had not been cleaned. We should be able to leave schools soon
as possible after the children."
"I really feel strongly that schools should remain open as much as possible or,
at a push, go to blended learning. However I do find it amazing that, on a long
day, there can be more than 210 pupils in and out of your classroom, some of whom
are over 17 years old yet a doctor's waiting room should only accommodate about 4
people because of social distancing!! I think that says it all".
"I think it's absurd that schools are being expected to remain open, particularly
with the newly announced move to Tier 4 for 11 Local Authority areas. We can't do
anything else that involves mixing with people - and school is the only place I'm
exposed to any number of people on a weekly basis now. I can't believe we're
being thrust on to the front line with next to none of the protections offered to
other front-line workers. Practically a whole year group has had to isolate, a
whole teaching department was isolating putting enormous strain on other staff
covering classes, and numerous other pupils/staff have been off. Two cases were
confirmed in one day last week in our school - anywhere else, that would be
called an outbreak - in school we get a letter saying that the risk to the wider
school community has been deemed "low"! There needs to be some consistency here
between schools and our day-to-day lives. You can't restrict one and not the other."
These comments show up the lies that are being made about schools being safe. It
is clear that schools are not safe- not surprising if hundreds to thousands of
pupils are crowded together for hours inside buildings. If other venues did the
same- concerts, pubs etc. they would be shutdown. The consequences of government
policy is obvious- more cases and more deaths.
Staff are fighting back. Havering Sixth Form College is one example in England
and there could be more that the NEU is not reporting. In Scotland, much more is
known to be happening. In West Dunbartonshire, 91% of teachers backed the move to
a dispute, on a turnout of 75%. In Glasgow, 93% of teachers voted in favour, one
a turnout of 63%. In Fife, 90% of teachers voted in favour, on a turnout of 53%.
It is vital that we have news about what is going on in schools and other
workplaces- what is happening to real people and not just impersonal statistics.
Armed with information on safety and actions being taken, we are better placed to
come together in a united movement to protect ourselves and our communities.

Tomorrow, on December 25, at 12 o'clock in the Golovinsky court of Moscow, the
anarchist and graduate of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow
State University, Azat Miftakhov, will deliver the last word on his absurd case.
This was reported by the Initiative Group of Moscow State University. The support
group calls on everyone to come to the courthouse and express support to Azat, as
well as to the other defendants in the case of the broken window in the United
Russia office - anarchist Elena Gorban and antifascist Andrei Eikin. Recall that
at the meeting on December 23, the prosecution asked Azat Miftakhov for 6 years
in a general regime colony, Elena Gorban - 4 years probation with a probation
period of 5 years, Andrei Eikin - 2 years probation with a probation period of 3
years. On the same day, anarchists were detained near the courthouse with
placards in support of Azat and other political prisoners of the anarchists.
Court address: st. Zoya and Alexandra Kosmodemyanskikh, 31, bldg. 2, office. 406.
A mask and gloves are required to enter the courthouse, but since the entrance to
the courthouse is limited for non-participants in the proceedings, a support
group will most likely be in front of the entrance to the courthouse.
The investigation claims that the defendants Azat Miftakhov, Yelena Gorban and
Andrei Eikin were part of a group that broke a window at night in an empty room
of one of the regional offices of United Russia and threw a smoke bomb there. The
main prosecution witness, on the basis of whose testimony it is based, is
classified, his identity is unknown to the defense and the public.
Miftakhov has been in jail for more than a year and a half, Gorban and Eikin are
under recognizance not to leave, the rest of the defendants in the case were
forced to leave Russia. According to the support group, the real reason for the
persecution of Azat and other defendants is their anarchist and anti-fascist views.
You can read more about the trial of Azat Miftakhov, Elena Gorban and Andrey
Eikin on the FreeAzat telegram channel !

Anarchists detained at the trial in the case of Azat Miftakhov
December 24, 2020 - 10:03 - Editorial Board
On December 23, Moscow's Golovinsky Court held one of the last hearings in the
case of a broken window in one of the offices of United Russia. The accused are
anarchist Azat Miftakhov and anti-fascists Elena Gorban and Andrey Eikin. For
Azat Miftakhov, the prosecution requested 6 years in a general regime colony,
Elena Gorban - 4 years probation with a probation period of 5 years, Andrey Eikin
- 2 years probation with a probation period of 3 years.
During the meeting near the courthouse, three picketers were detained in support
of the accused. They were standing with posters "Freedom to Russian Anarchists"
and "Freedom to Azat Miftakhov." Later they were released with administrative
protocols under the article on violation of the rules for participation in a
public event (part 5 of article 20.2 of the Administrative Code).
Further, the court will begin the debate. The next meeting will take place on
December 25 at 12 noon.

On 22/12/2020, responding to the call of the International Labor Confederation
(ICL), we supported with two hundred euros from the ESE Athens mutual fund the
300 trade union workers who continue to fight against the company Dragon Sweater
in Dhaka, Dhaka. closed and laid off 6,000 workers, using the pretext of the 2020
CoViD-19. pandemic. ---- We call on every worker, but also every collective and
union of the labor movement to actively support the economic solidarity campaign.
You can donate via the following link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/gwtucsolidarity
(IWW) Hamburg - has launched this call for financial solidarity. Support the
emancipation of clothing workers in Dhaka by contributing to this campaign

Trade union
representatives also visited the labor inspectorate, but once again they were
convinced that it is powerless, because the state actually covers the theft of
wages. The only thing. what remains for employees is organization, mutual
assistance and direct action (
https://zsp.net.pl/conflict-tumiraj-preschool-and-educational-center )
The anarcho-syndicalist union has been campaigning against Tumiray since October.
Two pickets have already been held in front of the educational center. A former
boss complained about police officers, accusing them of "screaming and making
noise"; they had to visit the police station, but they were not afraid. ZSP
intends to continue the protests until the justified demands of the workers are
met (

Jaroslav Granos' bookselling company owns at least three points of sale for cheap
books in the Warsaw district of Prague. The largest of them is located at 66
Targova, the other two are, respectively, in Vilensky Proezd and in the basement
near Rondo Washington. The company also sells books online and has stores in
Stara Milosna. The student who worked for this firm still cannot get paid for the
hours worked. In the copy of the contract issued to her, the hours worked are
entered incorrectly. ZSP requires the firm to pay the former employee the real
amount and urged the residents of Prague who live next to the store to avoid
establishments where workers' rights are violated and to buy elsewhere. On
December 9, at 5 p.m., anarcho-syndicalists held a picket near the store on
Targovaya, calling for a boycott of the firm
