We share this press release published on the MTL website Counter-info: Even as
COP15 is held in the streets of our city and the Canadian government is dancingthe dance of greenwashing, the Coastal Gaslink pipeline continues to be built inWet territory. 'suwet'en against the will of this nation. The guardians of thisterritory have been opposed for years to oil breakthroughs. This ecocidal projectthreatens the Wedzin Kwa river as well as the fauna and flora of the Yintah;while Canada pretends to care about biodiversity at COP15, CGL blows dynamite andlays pipes in Wet'suwet'en* waters, endangering salmon, eel and other formsnon-human lives already threatened.Faced with resistance from the First Nations, the Canadian petro-state hasdeployed and is still deploying millions of dollars** in militarized police forceto force the passage of this monstrous project. Everywhere else in the landsoccupied by the Canadian state, similar projects for transporting or extractingraw materials are jeopardizing the fragile ecosystems and the inhabitants whodepend on them, from the oil sands to the Ray-Mont Logistiques project, whichthreatens the Vague land facing the Port of Montreal. In the winter of 2020, Indigenous activists and allies mobilized from coast tocoast to tackle Canada's market infrastructure in solidarity with theWet'suwet'en. Even today, we are ready to face the extractivist and ecocidalmachine that is the Canadian state, its armed dogs, its communication teamsspecialized in greenwashing and its economic apparatus. We are on the side of theliving, on the side of the first peoples fighting for their sovereignty. We knowthat another world is possible far from their disgusting ecocidal projects whichonly benefit a handful of billionaires and their parliamentary minions. The Port of Montreal sees products from all over the world circulating inever-increasing quantities every day. Yet our living conditions are diminishing, ecosystems are collapsing and the first peoples are still the target ofrepressive and genocidal policies. The economic system that makes the Port ofMontreal work is leading us to our collective loss. It is always asking for moreoil, more raw materials, more mega-infrastructure and more land to dig its mines, build its pipelines and store its containers there. Today we closed it!After a successful blockade of the Port of Montreal and part of Notre-Dame East, despite a large and aggressive police presence, the activists headed to theoffices of the RBC in downtown Montreal to go join the rally called by Sleydo andother Wet'suwet'en activists.Fuck CGL, Fuck the police, Fuck the banks, Fuck the Port of Montreal, Fuck COP15,Fuck Canada!Long live the Wet'suwet'en, Long live the people who resist, Long live theresistance!Because the air, the earth and the rivers need revolutionary!* https://thenarwhal.ca/coastal-gaslink-wetsuweten-blasting/** https://thetyee.ca/News/2021/08/16/RCMP-Spent-Almost-2http://ucl-saguenay.blogspot.com/2022/12/blocage-du-port-de-montreal-en.html_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
