 The war in Ukraine did not start on February 24, 2022. It all started with the

events of Euromaidan in 2014 which led to the overthrow of the pro-Russian
government and led to a series of actions and events including: the annexation of
Crimea by "little green men" (the Russian army), the anti-Maidan protests that
degenerated into war in the Donbass and the invasion of Ukraine by Putin's
armies. Now, nearly a year into the high-intensity phase of this conflict that
has sparked a wave of outrage and awe in the West, events are clearly taking the
form of a confrontation between two empires. ---- Make no mistake, the situation
is far from being as simplistic and Manichean as that presented to us by Western
chancelleries and media. The Russians and the Americans are waging an indirect
war on Ukrainian soil to increase or maintain their geo-economic interests, to
the great displeasure of the local populations. Far from being just a victim, the
Ukrainian state is ultimately as detestable (read corrupt in the pay of the
oligarchs and authoritarians) as the Russian state, with a few variations. In
short, neither side represents an ideal of emancipation for workers and even less
for minority groups (LGBTQIA2 +, ethnic, religious and linguistic).

      This war is not fundamentally different from the others. Today as
yesterday, the ruling and possessing classes send the poor to die on the
battlefields in order to preserve their interests and arbitrary borders. There is
therefore no interest in dying for a state which tomorrow will not hesitate to
send its police to repress popular and workers' struggles.

      We must go beyond war propaganda on all sides and resist the discourse of
warmongers emitted by commentators. The Russian population and soldiers are far
from all fanatical supporters of the Putin regime. There is a resistance in
Russia that takes different forms: the desertion of soldiers, the arrest of
thousands of people during various demonstrations against the war and partial
mobilization and sabotage actions. Indeed, since February 24, 2022, there have
been 72 recorded attacks targeting recruitment offices and military
infrastructure in Russia.

      Sabotage actions on Russian soil

      On the Secours Rouge website (here and here), we can read that "the
anarcho-communist combatant organization () claimed responsibility for the
sabotage of the railway line leading to military unit 55443 in Barsovo (51st
arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Department of the Russian Ministry of
Defence), near Kirzhach, Vladimir Oblast."

      In Novocherkassk, a fire completely destroyed a two-story building of the
150th Motorized Rifle Division in the village of Persianovskoye.

      Also, we learned that in Podolsk, a retired couple was arrested at the end
of 2022 for having tried to set fire to the local army registration and
enlistment office. "Alexander Rassokhin, 70, soaked a rag in gasoline and placed
it on the window of a wooden military registration and enlistment desk, while his
wife, Maria Medvedeva, 76, was filming it. The pensioner did not stop, even when
the police car arrived. The fire was quickly extinguished. The couple were
imprisoned. ".

     Against wars and empires, let us impose international solidarity between
peoples, workers, women and all the oppressed!
