direction of the movement following the sidelines of Adrien Quatennens, the
historic heavyweights of LFI are offended at having been dismissed from the
governing body. Clémentine Autain, Alexis Corbière, François Ruffin would have
liked to influence the future orientations of the movement. However, it is a very
close friend of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, Manuel Bompard, who will steer the boat in
place of the old tribune.

According to the three grognards, it is a denial of democracy that is taking
place before their eyes. Their voices and their ideas not being represented at
the direction of the movement, then this one would be deprived of organ of
deliberation and representation of the diversity of opinion. But the battle is
not being played out there.

Mélenchon's authoritarianism and co-optation within the movement are no
surprises. This has already been said and analyzed. What is new is that
executives would like greater social parity within the movement[1]and that the
local base have more means and be better listened to. These discordant voices to
that of the old chief begin to be heard and claim their share of the spoils as
well as the throne. From now on, the question of the future standard bearer of
the " radical left " or even of the Nupes is being played out for the next
elections (the European elections of 2024, the municipal elections of 2026 and
the presidential election of 2027).

However, according to the new boss of the Insoumis, Manuel Bompard, everything is
clear: "My role is to ensure our unity, it is to ensure the development work of
our movement and certainly not to arbitrate in 2022 who will be the next
candidate for the presidential election of 2027."[2]

A machine to create a chef
For him, it is necessary to look at the electoral victories rather than the names
on the napkin rings, even though everything is done in the architecture of LFI to
hinder pluralism and internal democracy[3]. The FI is made up of local action
groups that have no other mission than to obey orders from above without issuing
any form of reflection. The FI wants to be at the forefront of the social
movement, close to the people, to the unions, but it is not damned to create
governing bodies representative of its activists where everyone can express their
voice. Instead, it is always the same parliamentarians who quarrel.

Autain, Corbière and Ruffin call for the union of the Insoumis and the whole
left, if possible behind them. But Mélenchon may not be far in ambush. Does he
still think he is ready for 2027, as a unifying man ? Personal ego and
authoritarianism are opposed to direct democracy.
