On February 8th we will hold a workshop on "Transformative Justice" together with
the Ignite collective. The workshop starts at 6:30 p.m. in the University ofOsnabrück, room 11/215 (in the castle). ---- Justice beyond the judiciary, policeand prison: transformative justice ---- Why do we talk so much in our contextsthat we reject the police and then call them again and again? Or are youcompletely at a loss as to how to act without them? And why, after all thesedecades of feminist struggles, do we still have no established concepts fordealing with interpersonal and sexualized violence?We consider it essential not only to use our theoretical rejection of the policeand patriarchy as sticker motifs, but also to develop a practice that seeks anddevelops alternatives. We want to find a way of dealing with violence in ourcontexts that is not based on the principles of criminal logic and stateviolence, and we want to take responsibility for the circumstances that also makeinterpersonal violence possible in emancipatory communities.We do not see interpersonal violence as an expression of illness or malice, butas social, i.e. made by society. The society in which we live is deeply permeatedby domination, punishment and violence. If we want to end (sexualized) violencein our spaces, groups and relationships, we cannot turn a blind eye to thesepower structures.Therefore, in this workshop we want to start with some reflections on theconnections between patriarchy (gender-related oppression), the state andviolence, analyze the logic of punishment and finally present alternativeconcepts for dealing with violence in our communities.We don't want to explain a master plan, but get to know existing conceptstogether with you, exchange ideas and experiences and encourage you to thinkabout the topic yourself.
