In the current political juncture, when Golden Dawn has lost the parastatal role
it used to perform, both due to its initial decharacterization due to itsallegedly "anti-systemic" character, as well as its organizational disintegrationand social de-legitimization, especially after characterization even by civiljustice as a "criminal organization", new nationalist-fascist actors are beingsought by the state authorities. More specifically, the Holy Society inThessaloniki was apparently considered a very suitable case. Of course, this isnot true at all since the AME and other micro-groups that draw their matrix fromthe Golden Dawn and gather around I.L. they exclaim even more emphatically theirbelief in National Socialism, the Third Reich, Hitler, etc. But as we know, thesehave no importance in the face of how they have managed to be projected by themedia that cover their movements: something like associations of patriots withrelations with the church and military veterans.In addition, during the outbreak of the pandemic and the lock-downs, fertileground was created for the development of irrationality, conspiracy, and openedthe way for reactionary, far-right propaganda, and by extension, thereconstruction of neo-Nazis in the public sphere. In particular, the criminalstate management of the pandemic contributed in this direction, while at the sametime this expansion of irrationality served the state narrative to a largeextent. In the previous year, it became clear at all events, the organization offascist group schools in the districts of Thessaloniki and the immediate responseof the anarchist movement, as well as of the anti-fascists more broadly,succeeded in limiting them and thwarting any of their organizational development,as well as preventing their speech from spreading in the social web.Today, under the threat of a generalized war conflict centered on the annexationof Ukraine to NATO, with the social base living under a regime of generalizedprecision and poverty, the resurgence of nationalist and intolerant voices withinof the political establishment. Especially in a pre-election period, the fasciststry to play a role in the political scene again, moving in various ways in theneighborhoods, the city center or even the area guarded by the AUTH policeforces. But they always move timidly, under the darkness of the night withouteven being able to move effectively. They will try once again to spread theirnationalist, racist, homophobic speech. Therefore, our anti-fascist action inevery social field, from the schools and colleges, the neighborhoods to theirevery attempt at a public gathering in the center of the city, is a veryimportant issue in the next period.On Saturday 28/1, on the occasion of the "anniversary" of Imia, fascistgatherings are called in various cities of Greece, as well as in Thessaloniki. An"anniversary" that is a rallying point for fascists, because on this particulardate 3 soldiers died precisely for nationalist ideologies and the interests ofdomestic and international capital. It proves what we say about the need forinternational solidarity between peoples, with the only war to be waged being theclass war. In this attempt to re-emerge the fascists, a massive and militantresponse is necessary. The battle with fascism is not exhausted in centralmeetings, in fiery announcements and obedient routes, it is daily. An integralpart of the anti-fascist struggle in the city are the anti-fascist gatheringsthat limit any dynamics of the fascists, as well as their spatial diffusion. Thesupport of anti-fascist gatherings should be the self-evident and minimumpossible mobilization of all anarchist and anti-authoritarian groupings andorganizations, as of course it should normally be the minimum movement of allorganizations generally referred to anti-fascism.In the next period, both at the central level, with the elections approaching,and at the local level, with the battle against the new fascist groupings, thenext developments regarding the way of expression and organization of theanti-fascist struggle will be decided.
