Anarchy and self-government
Often, and more and more frequently these days, there are those who equate
anarchy with an eternal chaos that only the state can curb. A way to criminalize
and ridicule the anarchist movement, often described in terms of the fierce
terrorist or the naive utopian. Masks built to exorcise the risk that the world
we are forced to live in is no longer considered the best.
The anarchist approach to the question of conflict, precisely because it
constitutively shuns the terrifying perspective of a society pacified by state
violence, questions itself and tries to practice libertarian, non-coercive ways
of managing conflict, both in terms of self-management of struggles and in the
dynamics of self-government.
Not an easy yet necessary path. It is no coincidence that many anarchists today,
as in the past, have chosen to experiment with non-authoritarian political
relations within anarchist organizations, where confrontation is practiced,
synthesis is sought in the autonomy of groups and individuals. Anarchy and
organization are the starting and landing points of a path of freedom that is
proposed to the whole of society.
