In the state death statistics thousands are the people who lose their lives and
are classified as numbers without mentions and drumbeats. The news of their deathis but a brief mention in the news bulletins and the report columns that is soonforgotten. Labor "accidents", deaths at the borders and the seas, suicides forclass reasons, murders of immigrants in the A.T. they are just some of theexamples of people who do not die as "heroes" and "national legends" but as"numbers" and "short news" that only a few and primarily those close to themremember. Sometimes there are those deaths that cannot be drowned in thenumerical painlessness of state statistics, not because the state suddenlybecomes "sensitive" but because its responsibilities cannot be covered up. Andthen the declaration of "national mourning", the mentions and the beating of thedrums arise as the dirty means of washing away his responsibilities.There are undeniably deaths from natural disasters with or without stateresponsibility. There are deaths from "human errors", from "unfortunate moments"and from "fatal coincidences". But there are also deaths that may well be definedas state and class crimes. The unspeakable tragedy that unfolded in Tempe is onesuch case, a premeditated crime that workers through their union bodies warnedwas only a matter of time before it happened. In fact, they saved not only theaccident but also the "crocodile tears" of the politicians. No one can feignignorance, and no one is morally and socially justified in placing the burden ofblame on a single official when it comes to a crime with structural stateresponsibilities, treading on a long-standing strategy of devaluing resources andwhich miraculously had no has so far led to other deaths of workers andpassengers in the numerous examples of "accidents" that had preceded it. It iscertainly not enough even the pretentious and communicative resignations toappease the righteous social anger and the replacement of the persons inministerial positions with the bourgeois politics itself and the capitalistsstaying on fire.If something is certain and largely rooted in the consciousness of the socialmajority, even in a general way of accepting the situation, it is that the state,capitalists and governments are responsible for the deaths in Tempe. From theprivatization of OSE beer in the context of the "first time left" memorandumcommitments and Tsipras' triumphalisms at the time, to the statements of NewDemocracy officials such as e.g. of Hatzidakis, intertwined with anti-labor billsfor the "sanitization" of the OSE thanks to the sale of the "most problematicbusiness in Europe", the government and state responsibilities are a given andhave been publicly assumed. The culprits are in parliament, in governmentpositions and in capitalist companies. They have names and addresses. They areall those who, for the sake of profit, devalued every safety measure, leftpositions understaffed, abandoned the railways in medieval operating conditionswhile technological progress has reached unimaginable levels in a very shorthistorical time.In those wagons in which so many people of our class lost their lives and so manyothers are still ignored or gloating, it could be anyone of us. These lines ofthe sapiotrains of "neoliberal consolidation" are not used by those with wealth,power and positions, which is why mourning is not "national" but class, popular,social mourning, for our fellow human beings. If these bastards used them theywouldn't bump into each other, they wouldn't coordinate in that antiquated way,and popular instinct knows this all too well. The occupants would enjoy thesafety of the journey amid the smell of caviar rather than the smell of burntsheet metal amid screams, pain and the horror of death. The world of the stateand the bourgeoisie and our world, the world of work, toil, uncertainty withinthis world but always full of hope youth are separated by blood. They are worldsirreconcilable, worlds in constant conflict, worlds at war until the finalpredominance of our own world, that of freedom, equality, social justice, mutualaid, anarchy.Although times are difficult and our social, class and revolutionary ethicsdictate immediate responses of outrage, we must say that against the systemicallybounded dilemma between the neoliberal "small state" and the social democratic"bigger" state that is re-emerging, the our answer is clear: no state! The needto develop a plan for direct socializations of resources, services and means ofproduction, not to erect "islands of freedom" but within a revolutionary programof overturning, is more urgent than ever. All for all, by us for us, only weourselves can build the world on the buoy of our needs and desires, for thecollective benefit and not the individual gains of the few.We owe it to the dead of our class, to every lost fellow human being, to fightfor a better world. Both directly claiming anything that will improve our livingconditions and looking at the complete overthrow of the existing exploitative,oppressive and unjust world.
