The XXIV annual assembly of the Sicilian Anarchist Federation, with congressional
function, was held in Ragusa on Sunday 23 January. A discreet presence fromalmost all the provinces of the island and the arrival of new comradesrepresented the positive note of the annual appointment, which opened with adiscussion on the repressive phase in progress and on the campaign for AlfredoCospito, against 41 bis and life imprisonment. After the insights and commitmentsto increase the political campaign underway, it became necessary to examine thetools, both legal and economic, with which we must equip ourselves in the bestpossible way, to face the state attack on both the anarchist movement and toterritorial or union struggle movements. The assembly then focused on support forcomrade Enrico Caldara, on trial on May 10 in Agrigento for having tried toprevent the cutting of some trees in his town.Ample space was dedicated to environmental issues and the devastating policiesthat our territory suffers, starting with that of the industrial poles ofMilazzo, Gela, Augusta-Priolo-Melilli, and also in the light of the recentconference against ENI organized in Gela by NO MUOS movement together with otherrealities. The anarchists of the Fas will take action to give impetus or in anycase contribute to the resistance struggles, also by connecting with existingsituations.Those present then defined the path of "Ortocircuito", the network of realitiesthat practice alternative activities, especially in agriculture, to which the Fashas already dedicated various meetings, to arrive at concrete steps in the spring.The lunch break allowed the newcomers to get to know each other better and tosocialize, as well as to take up some ideas from the debate, enjoying thedelicious dishes brought by various participants. Immediately afterwards theinternational question was addressed, in view of the next congress of theInternational of Anarchist Federations scheduled in Reggio Emilia for the Easterperiod, which, among other things, will sanction the adhesion of the FAS to theIFA. Our presence will be defined through a document focused on the role ofSicily in military strategies in the Mediterranean and on the geostrategicfunction of the Mediterranean in global economic and energy policies. A documentthat will also address other specific issues such asindependence-autonomy-federalism (and differentiated autonomy), the NO MUOSstruggle, the factories of death, the bridge over the Strait, the mafia, thedepopulation of territories, the immigration, feminism and the condition ofwomen. Working groups will be defined shortly.And another piece of the assembly was dedicated to the question of feminism,which brought out the complexity of the theme, the need to update ourselves butalso to pay attention to the southern and Sicilian reality while alwaysmaintaining a critical but constructive gaze.The finale of the intense day, which unfortunately failed to develop all thepoints foreseen, was dedicated to the tools of the federation, the InternalBulletin and above all the blog, indicating proposals for their strengthening.The appointment, despite the period of great commitments that absorb the energiesof our comrades (just think of the anti-militarist struggle and against the waror the publication of Libertarian Sicily, and for almost two years of themagazine Scorci, the publishing houses, the Archivio Storico degli AnarchiciSiciliani, etc.), managed not to give in to vagueness, to keep his feet on theground and to outline the roles and functions of the Fas, a minority acting inthe real world of resistance and struggle, a stimulus and spur for the growth ofpossible social alternatives in Sicily (and beyond).One that washttps://www.sicilialibertaria.it/_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.ca
