WORLD WORLDWIDE GERMANY News Journal Update - (en) Germany, Rreiburg, FAU: "Social rights for everyone!" - demonstration on October 28th (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

FAU Freiburg supports the call for the demonstration "Social rights for

ALL! No exclusions! Abolish AsylbLG!" on October 28th in Freiburg. Thedemonstration starts at 2 p.m. on the square of the old synagogue. ----For the abolition of the ---- Asylum Seekers Benefits Act: Social rightsfor EVERYONE! End all exclusion! ---- A large majority of the partiesrepresented in the Bundestag responded to the racist attacks againstrefugees in the early 1990s with agitation and exclusion: the basicright to asylum was undermined and a discriminatory special law waspassed with the Asylum Seekers' Benefits Act (AsylbLG). For the firsttime, a specific population group was excluded from federal socialwelfare and intensive social policy interventions in basic and humanrights were legitimized by law. Those affected were ultimately forced tolive a precarious, substandard life. Even contact with cash wasprohibited by the benefit-in-kind principle. The minimum (in-kind)benefits granted have not been increased for 19 years.November 1st marks the 30th anniversary of the exclusionary law cominginto force. We take this as an opportunity to take the demands for theabolition of the AsylbLG and any social exclusion to the streets.Today the social rights of refugees are under attack again. Asylumseekers whose applications have been rejected should no longer receivecash. A special obligation to work for 80 cents per hour for refugees isto be introduced. The 18-month camp stay for individuals under intensiverestrictions on fundamental rights should be enforced across the board. The standards for reception, accommodation and care are to be furtherreduced. All of these proposals are currently circulating in partycircles, in district councils, in parliaments... At the same time, withthe EU-wide proposals for a Common European Asylum System (CEAS), thesocial disenfranchisement mentioned could already be specificallyenforced at the EU's external borders. In short: We are experiencing amassive shift to the right in German and European politics. This mustnot go unchallenged! That's why we demand:Self-sufficiency instead of disempowering full cateringWe demand the right to a self-determined diet for every person. Wefirmly reject legal requirements that require people to receive fullmeals provided by others (canteens, meal packages, etc.). Indirectshopping or cooking bans interfere with general freedom of action andgeneral personal rights. Benefits to secure a living are generallypayable as cash benefits.Health card instead of discriminatory paper health certificatesRefugees must be included in statutory health and nursing care insurance(SGB V/XI). It must be ensured that people without papers have access tothe health system at any time without fear of deportation. Inparticular, a right to language mediation when using health careservices must be established. Those affected by illness, trauma, disability and need for care, as well as pregnant, single parents, olderpeople and refugee children must - in accordance with their rights underthe EU Reception Directive - be entitled to all additional benefitsrequired due to their particular situation.Private living instead of storage From 2013 to 2022, the stock of social housing fell by 400,000 - eventhough the federal and state governments wanted to build 100,000 newsocial housing units every year. We reject blaming the lack ofaffordable housing on one population group, namely refugees. Both theobligation for asylum seekers to live in the camp (§§ 47/53 AsylG) andthe residency requirements for recognized refugees (§ 12a Residence Act)must be abolished. Despite recognition, many refugees remain inmunicipal collection camps for a long time. There is talk of a "move-outcrisis", which also has official and social causes.Access to the labor market instead of work bansThe right to free access to the labor market must apply to everyone. Itis absurd that politicians are recruiting workers abroad, but arepartially excluding refugees living in the country from the labor marketand thus making them dependent on social benefits (according to theAsylbLG). Like all other employable people in Germany, employablerefugees must be placed by the employment agency instead of beingreferred to the social welfare offices. Those affected experience workbans as devaluation and psychosocial stress. This is also why all legalregulations that prohibit or restrict people's access to the labormarket must be repealed. We refer to compliance with the coalitionagreement, where it was agreed: "We are abolishing work bans for thosealready living in Germany."Collective wages instead of exploitative work for 80 cents/hThe work opportunities for 80 cents per hour provided for in the AsylbLGmust be canceled without replacement and jobs paid according tocollective agreements must be created for work that is required tomaintain the accommodation. Any form of compulsory work contradictsinternational agreements and national law. We refer to Conventions No.29 and No. 105 of the International Labor Organization (ILO) on theabolition of forced labor, the European Convention on Human Rights(ECHR) and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights ofthe United Nations.Standing up for fundamental rights instead of accepting illegal cutsWe call on all administrations and those responsible to end illegalservice cuts. Those affected must receive notifications and be informedof their rights, including the possibility of submitting an objection. The rulings of the Federal Constitutional Court on the Asylum Law mustbe respected and implemented immediately. No reform but abolition of the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act!https://freiburg.fau.org/2023/10/05/soziale-rechte-fuer-alle-fau-freiburg-unterstuetzt-den-aufruf-zur-demonstration-am-28-10/_________________________________________A - I N F O S  N E W S  S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.ca
