Speech by the organizers before the blockade of the clero-fascist March
for Life, which took place on April 6 in Prague. ---- A big thank you to
everyone for standing here together today. We're not here to look for
trouble or goof off, but because we have no choice. The pro-life
movement, which with the support of politicians across the spectrum and
church dignitaries meets at the top of Hradcany, has been attacking the
basic rights of all of us who are here for a long time, albeit covertly.
Standing up to him means not only standing up to church dogmatism, but
also to his years of connecting with politicians and various
institutions in an attempt to win them over to the intention of limiting
abortions in the Czech Republic in any way.
Although the Movement for Life in recent decades has published and sent
publications to schools labeling gays and lesbians as perverts, for
example, they now pose as saints. In a society that, fortunately, is not
curious about open bigotry, it is disguised in the most cynical way
possible. He is conjured by helping the unwittingly pregnant, people in
a particularly vulnerable position who need everything but manipulation
and emotional blackmail. Or what the Pro-Life Movement is also
particularly fond of: threatening stressed and insecure women that if
they get an abortion, they will suffer for life from scientifically
unfounded so-called post-abortion syndrome.
When we stand up against the lies, manipulation and fearmongering, the
clerics tell us that we want as many abortions as possible. It's not
true. We want the possibility for each person to be able to make a truly
free decision and - whatever this often difficult choice may be - so
that society does not bully them or push them through prohibitions into
often life-threatening home abortions.
Of course, it is unacceptable for irresponsible men to force pregnant
women to have abortions, as the Pro-Life Movement often says. But we
need emancipation, equality and the eradication of sexualized violence
as well as violence and blackmail in relationships, which is led to by
exactly the same culture of supposedly "traditional" values that the
Movement for Life promotes. And let it be completely, perfectly clear
what we do not need, what no one must and has no right to do: make wombs
the property of the state and the church and people living incubators.
The children we have or will have in the future, if we decide to do so,
will be ours, and not Duky, Juchelky or Joch!
Starting a family is a wonderful and big thing. We all want parents to
enjoy sufficient social support, freedom and social security. But that
is precisely why we prevent the possibility of choice. Being pro-life
does not mean forcing anyone in any situation to have children, but
respecting that life must be free. Unbound by the centuries-old dogmas
of institutions that swear by sanctity while mass abusing children. Free
from state coercion and ideopolice persecution. Of course, being truly
and freely alive in this way also brings difficult choices. But we are
willing to carry them and help people who need help.
The time has come to say it openly. The pro-life movement does not
defend a normal world and family, but a fringe, authoritarian ideology.
We are pro-life, we are pro-family. And that is why we stand here today
and stand against the darkness.
(A report from the blockade will follow in the coming days.)
