What is Frontex?
Created in 2004, Frontex is a European agency whose budget has exploded
by 7,560% since its inception, reaching EUR544 million in 2021, and is
expected to receive EUR5.6 billion over the period 2021-2027. Frontex,
with its army of 10,000 border guards planned by 2027, is equipped with
drones, helicopters and ships, serving the interests of the arms and
surveillance industries. It also acts as a "return agency", coordinating
deportation flights and pressuring countries to readmit deported refugees.

The EU's migration policies are inherently racist and neocolonial. They
are part of the continuity of capitalist structures of domination that
exploit the resources and populations of the Global South, while
rejecting those fleeing poverty, wars and climate crises. Europe, which
has largely contributed to these disasters through its military
interventions, its plundering of natural resources and its
responsibilities in global warming, today refuses to welcome the victims
of its own system.

Our perspective: a libertarian communist analysis
The EU's migration policies are tools at the service of capitalism.
Borders are there to protect the bourgeoisies of European states while
rejecting those fleeing poverty and conflict. Frontex targets in
particular the populations of the Global South, notably in Africa, and
thus embodies a continuation of colonialism by other means.

This policy of migration control is based on hypocrisy. While the
Schengen area offers freedom of movement for European citizens, it
erects walls against exiles from the South. The EU claims to defend the
"preservation of the European way of life", an expression that masks a
desire to maintain a white and exclusionary Europe.

Capitalism has not only "globalized" the world, it has imposed its logic
of exploitation by force on the entire planet. Borders serve to divide
the exploited and create classes of workers without rights, in
precarious situations and vulnerable. We campaign for the abolition of
borders, because they only fuel state violence and capitalist domination.

Women, LGBTI people, and minority groups are also directly affected by
these migration policies. Those fleeing persecution related to their
gender or sexual orientation are turned away at the gates of Europe, as
denounced by the slogan of Existransinter 2023 against the Darmanin law.
These exiles, often victims of violence in their country, are refused
protection and are sent back to certain dangers.

Our fight does not stop at borders. We advocate international solidarity
between workers of all countries, between peoples, and support for
feminist, LGBTI, and environmental struggles. It is urgent to build an
internationalist movement that opposes imperialism, racism, and economic
exploitation, for a world where everyone can move and settle freely.

Faced with this observation, it is time to mobilize to dismantle Frontex
and what it represents. We demand:
The abolition of Frontex and its deadly operations.

The regularization of people in migration.

An end to expulsions and the closure of detention centers.

An end to the militarization of borders and the military-industrial complex.

An end to the surveillance of people on the move.

Freedom of movement and settlement for all.

A world based on solidarity and equality, where everyone is free to live
and move without oppression or exploitation.
