For decades, the State of Israel has developed a military strategy that
deeply affects the lives of the Palestinian people. These policiesinclude military operations, controls at strategic points, as well as
the construction of settlements in occupied territories, which are
considered illegal by the international community. This militarization
is not limited, of course, only to the field of military attacks, but
also extends to social, political and economic fields, making the daily
life of Palestinians increasingly difficult. This strategy of the
Israeli army would of course be more difficult to capture in reality,
without the alliances it has developed with the great powers of America
and the Western world. The Greek state, continuing on the path it had
already begun to chart since the beginning of the 2010s, decides to
deepen its cooperation with Israel even more and highlight its strategic
and energy interests, participating by its side throughout the during
the war and strengthening its military forces, while they carry out the
genocide of the Palestinian people.
Counting now about a year since the start of the war in the Middle East,
the relations between its states do not just seem to be escalating, on
the contrary, they are increasing, as are Israel's invasions of the
surrounding countries. From October 7, 2023 and after the invasion of
Palestinian organizations in Israel, a military operation by the Israeli
forces begins, with the aim - as they say - of clearing the area of the
bases of Hamas and other forces that aim to exterminate them . Land and
air invasions continue to this day, while after the bombings in Gaza -
one of the most densely populated areas on the planet - the death toll
has exceeded 40,000, among which are more than 15,000 murdered children.
Survival in the Gaza Strip has now been deemed impossible, since in
addition to homes, schools and hospitals - all of which have been
strategic targets of Israeli bombardment - the water and electricity
supply infrastructures and other necessary fuels have also been destroyed.
Having passed a year since the beginning of these operations, it is
clear that the only goal remains the genocide of the Palestinian people,
as it has placed hundreds of thousands of people in blockade and hostage
status with the aim of either their physical extermination or their
adaptation to the "new reality" , that is, in the acceptance of
integration within the framework of the Israeli state. However, in
recent days, land and air attacks have also increased in neighboring
countries. Israel decides to launch attacks on South Lebanon as well and
invades its interior, bombing it and seizing communication devices,
again heedless of the cost of human life. At the same time, Iran's
unprecedented ballistic missile attack on Israel had preceded it, in
response to the assassinations of Hamas and Hezbollah officials by the
Mossad, with threats of retaliation from both sides increasing and now
taking on a different meaning. Israel's military invasion of Lebanon is
yet another violent expression of the state apparatus that imposes its
power through violence and destruction. This conflict is not just a
local dispute between nations or religious groups. Rather, it is part of
a wider system of domination and imperialist expansionism to impose
Western dominance in the Middle East through military might, political
manipulation and economic exploitation.
Once again we witness the barbarity of a war slaughterhouse, into which
states drag the plebeian strata. In fact, within such a short period of
time, the wounds that had been opened in the lives and consciences of so
many people after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, are still fresh. Only
two years later, we see this barbarity evolving day by day, in a state
of consolidation of war as interstate rivalries continue to intensify.
The peoples are again led with mathematical precision to a military
Atlas and "pay" in blood for the fact that they were not lucky enough to
be born in the so-called "developed" West. As every other time, all the
criminal designs between the oppressors and the war hawks in the USA and
the European Union are responsible. What gives rise to the wars,
conflicts, injustices, deaths and unspeakable tragedies of humanity is
the globalized capitalist system. In peacetime, it subjugates, exploits
and squeezes the workers of all the lengths and breadths of the earth,
oppresses and abuses the common people of the earth, oppresses and
abuses the weakest and amasses untold riches for the world oligarchs.
Thus, the escalation of the war in the Middle East is part of the
intensification of militarism and -in places- nationalistic narratives
with the parallel fragmentation of the world map into axes and zones of
political, economic and military interests. Once again, the beginning of
a generalized war conflict on the carpet is now set. This savage attack
that societies are experiencing today, amid conditions of deep and
comprehensive systemic crisis and delegitimization of the political
system worldwide, is escalating and highlighting both the incurable
contradictions of the state-capitalist model of organization, as well as
the absolute inability to produce from above any coherent social vision,
perspective and hope.
This is not a new war, but a continuation of the previous ones. The
dominant objective remains the same and is none other than the control
and maintenance of contradictions between working class and capital,
exploration and supply of goods, experimental development and production
of more and more weapons, bombs and any other military equipment.
Regardless of the outcome of any war, regardless of whether it results
in the striking of a nuclear base, the production of massive refugee
migration waves, other genocides, or the destruction of entire cities
and countries, what a war will always produce is the loss of innocent
and oppressed people and from both sides. Losses that are not limited to
the most important meaning of lost life, but we see them in the spectrum
of social destruction, with new dichotomies being created and the spirit
of nationalism, hatred and racism being strengthened. Unity, community
as terms are being fragmented and class, internationalist solidarity
between peoples is now being tested more than ever.
Let's not become fodder for the bosses' shells, fight militarism, block
war here and everywhere on the planet. Greece is a member of NATO and
the EU and is deeply tied to the chariot of Euro-Atlanticism,
responsible for so many criminal interventions in recent years and
beyond. The recent renewal of defense cooperation between Greece and the
USA, the upgrading of the NATO base of Souda and its role in the wider
region, the transfer of "special" weapons to the air base of Araxos, the
expansion of military bases in various regions of the country such as
Larissa, Stefanovikio and Alexandroupoli, the new arms race for the
entire army with "sophisticated" weapon systems, etc. they are links in
the chain of expanding relations between the Greek and American states,
confirming both the tying of the domestic bourgeoisie to the chariot of
interests of the dominant international political-economic elite and the
new upgraded role that the Greek state seeks to have in the critical
region of the Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean.
As anarchists, we are called to continue our struggle against the war
machine state and capitalism. Anarchists in their long history have
never stopped fighting against the rulers in whatever guise they wear to
satisfy their special interests: the interests of the bosses. Because
either we will stop the war or we will have to suffer its terrible
consequences. Consequences that will have a direct impact on the lives
of the poor and the weak, whether they concern the cost of living or
life itself, the value of which is beginning to be devalued on European
soil as much as it has been devalued by the planetary bosses in the
capitalist periphery and in the bodies of refugees and immigrants who
are uprooted. We must highlight the real causes that give rise to
poverty, destitution and war and fight against them, stand by the
Palestinian and Lebanese people who are tested daily in the face of
Israel's military machine. Until those who fight for a more just world
in every corner of the earth are vindicated, against every warlike,
interstate alliance that aims to bring its own "peace" to the respective
region, slaughtering anyone in their path and exterminating entire
peoples. We advocate international solidarity and war against any state
apparatus. The only just war is the struggle of the oppressed of this
Earth against the state and capital.
It is our duty, then, as anarchist revolutionaries to fight for the
strengthening of the unguarded character of the anti-war movement that
will fight for the right of those from below. Against the dystopia of
modern totalitarianism, where the great majority is impoverished and
subjugated, let us contrast the libertarian society organized through
federal social councils "for the Freedom of each and the Equality of
all". No trust in anyone who does not hold aloft the banner of
proletarian internationalism - and only this one!
