Camilo/PT announces Mais Professores, a federal government program that
should have been announced in October 2024. Late, the demagogue CamiloSantana announces "countless benefits" for the category. We didn't
expect much from such a minister, since he implemented a state pension
reform in 2019 that was worse than the one implemented by the
reactionary Bolsonaro/PL. But we didn't imagine that the program would
be so bad. ---- From "credit cards with no annual fees", discounts on
hotels and online courses through "ava MEC", the program is a fiasco.
The "mais professores" grant proposed in the amount of R$2,100 per month
for teachers who go to areas with a shortage of teachers only exposes
the national problem, which is the lack of attractive job, career and
salary plans for the category. The program identifies that "only 1/3 of
graduates become teachers", but does not address the reasons. But we
know them well: Overcrowded classrooms generating an overload of work.
Unhealthy environments where 1.4 million students do not have access to
treated water at school[i]. Saunas in classrooms without air
conditioning[ii]causing teachers and children to get sick while they try
to study/work. Outdated or non-existent job, career and salary plans.
Failure to implement adjustments to the minimum wage for teachers.
Privatization of education in many networks, such as Paraná and São
Paulo. There are countless reasons why graduates do not come to work in
teaching.
The Lula/PT government then makes this grant available for a period of 2
years. And after these two years? Will these teachers remain in more
distant locations, often without PCCs? No. This shows that this program
is yet another demagogic measure that does not seek to directly solve
the problems of public education, especially in places that are
difficult to access.
Camilo Santana/PT pretends not to know about these countless problems
and proposes yet another scholarship to encourage students to pursue a
degree with the "save money" from their undergraduate degree. A
scholarship of R$1,050 for students to pursue a degree through Sisu,
Prouni or Fies. We believe that the more scholarships there are, the
better. However, this student who leaves university will face a
multitude of problems (like those listed above) that the networks and
the MEC are trying to solve.
