A non-academic neo-expressionism, that of the exhibition of the artist
Enrico Gasparri, in which the body, the heart, the instinct, thereality, the imagination, the intuition and the technique, are the
elements and the cipher that becomes his artistic expression, which is
linked and merged with that of the African, Indian, Haitian and Cuban
Peoples and arts, which has as its title: The Mad Hatter and the Red
Shoes. The Mad Hatter, symbolizes madness, the healthy creative madness
of the artist, open to self-therapy and processes of self-liberation, to
becoming and metamorphosis, while the Red Shoes represent the potential
dimension of the Archetypes of women, which are present and co-present
in every woman. An artist from Catania, a citizen of the world, who has
participated with his exhibitions in countries such as Spain, Mexico,
South America, North Africa, Central America and Cuba, and now exhibits
his works, almost all women's bodies with very bright colors, in the
Bassi of Palazzo Ducezio in the Municipality of Noto, where the color
red predominates like that of the lava flows of Etna, together with a
sensuality and an eros that celebrates the body of the woman with large
breasts, of a woman "of difference", compared to the woman of
contemporary society, which immediately makes one think beyond the
Dionysian dimension of art and life, to the Gilanic Societies of the
distant past, which were in relationship and in harmony with the various
European Communities of the time, in societies without States, without
Governments and without superstructures, but self-organized and based on
non-violence and peace, in which the woman, being the origin and source
of life, was venerated as a Goddess - the Great Mother. These are
Anarchist Societies, removed and erased by the authoritarian and violent
Power of the past and today, even from History books. Enrico Gasparri is
a free artist, a Libertarian, who loves to travel and be a nomad, an
artist and a researcher who contaminates his art with that of the
Peoples he frequents, in particular with the Indigenous culture,
collaborating with the Universities of Granada and Mexico City on
projects aimed at protecting the civil rights of the indigenous
populations of South America, making that art of cultural, political and
social commitment with which he identifies and disindividualizes
himself, to get rid of his concept of subject, to always recognize
himself in something other than himself, in his singularity, to create
new expression, both in art and in life, crossing his cultural and
artistic references, to authoritatively affirm his artistic and
alternative style always in progress.
