Why Food and Liberation Belong Together ---- Those who cook together
create far more than just a meal. The "Kitchen for All (KüfA)" is a
small, practical revolt against the logic of profit, overproduction, and
waste. Here, food is cooked that others would throw away. Here, what is
otherwise unequally distributed is shared. And here, people eat together
who, in a society without domination, would naturally sit together. And
because cooking, cleaning, organizing, and caregiving are often
invisible tasks in this society, mostly attributed to women, the KüfA
demonstrates in practice that care work can be shared, consciously, and
in solidarity.
Freedom doesn't fall from the sky. It is lived, fought for, and tested.
That's exactly what happens in every KüfA. Vegan dishes, sharing in
solidarity, cleaning up together. All of this is not a moralizing
lecture, but an attempt to bring a piece of the future into the present.
This practice aligns with the ideas of anarchafeminism. A society
without domination is impossible as long as patriarchal violence,
exploitation, and devaluation continue to structure everyday life.
Patriarchy is not just about beatings, control, or abuse. It is embedded
in labor relations, family structures, state institutions, language,
culture, and the economy. It means that men, as a group, possess more
power and resources.
Anarchafeminism states: Liberation cannot be delegated. No party, no
state, no vanguard will liberate women, FLINTA*, or other marginalized
people. Emancipation arises from self-organization, mutual support, and
the courage to change one's own living conditions. It is an illusion to
think that "everyone is equal among comrades anyway" and that overcoming
the state and capital would eliminate sexism. This problem is explored
in Bini Adamczak's "Relationship Revolution" using various historical
examples.
Kitchen for All and anarcha-feminism meet where people begin to rethink
the relationships between themselves, food, work, and power. Where
hierarchies have no place. Where we not only satisfy hunger, but also
the desire for a world without violence and without domination. On
November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence
against Patriarchy, we remember that this violence is not a fringe
phenomenon. It is systemic. It is commonplace. And it can be changed.
Our utopia? A society in which no one is subjugated, in which people
determine their own lives, in which we live with each other instead of
over each other. A society in which food is not a luxury, care work is
not an invisible duty, and freedom is not a privilege. Kitchen for All
can be a seed in which the new can already be found within the old. The
seed carries within it the potential for a new form of society to
develop. The ingredients used in this social transformation define the
flavor of the new social order.
Not one less! ¡Vivas Nos Queremos - We want to live!
