In *Justice Everywhere*, Camille Soffer and Coline Zuber explore transformative justice with rare clarity and humanity. This collection of texts doesn't simply skim the surface of the issue: it insists on distinguishing transformative justice from traditional restorative justice, and demonstrates how it is a radically different tool, one that seeks not only to repair, but to transform the relationships and structures at the root of the conflict.
The texts, almost all drawn from American experiences, bear witness to an approach that already seems "future-proof" compared to what is known in France. They describe concrete practices, step-by-step guides, but always with the awareness that theory can be destructive if applied blindly. This is the case with The Broken Teapot, where the warning is brilliant: forcing the victim to play a role in the process or to initiate dialogue every time can be destructive. This clear-sightedness avoids any naive idealism and makes the collection credible and respectful.
What makes this book particularly powerful is the accuracy of its advice. It contains simple yet revolutionary phrases: set a goal and a timeframe, accept that things will fail, celebrate small victories. And above all, a point often overlooked: recognize that for a victim, their abuser is not "just" what they did. Sometimes, it's someone with whom they shared intimate moments, and they may miss that. The idea is not to justify the unjustifiable, but to allow the victim to maintain the complexity of their feelings without shame.
Justice Everywhere is therefore a book that is both practical and profoundly human. It shows that transformative justice is not a panacea, but a demanding path where every step counts and every mistake is a learning experience. It is, without a doubt, the best text I have read on the subject: a rare blend of guide, critical reflection, and radical empathy.
