Friday 15/5, 19.00, Israeli Embassy -- May 15, 1948 - May 15, 2026: Freedom in the ever-struggling Palestine | "- And do you not consider that a country belongs to its ruler? ---- - Only if he alone rules a deserted land" - Sophocles ---- On May 14, 1948, the Israeli declaration of independence was signed, with the newly created state occupying the historical lands of the Palestinian people. The following day went down in history as the Nakba (catastrophe), the beginning of the expulsion of over 700,000 refugees from their homeland, marking at the same time the beginning of a struggle for Land and Freedom that is now perhaps at its most critical juncture.
The Israeli state, which from the first day of its existence had secured the diplomatic and later the military support of the entire Western world, constituting the stronghold and the "outpost" of the Western war machine in the Middle East and functioning as the means of promoting Western political and economic interests in the region, is fully implementing an apartheid regime by confining Palestinians to the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, prohibiting their free movement through a complex of military checkpoints, colonizing Palestinian villages, arresting thousands of people and placing them in a hostage situation, imprisoning them without charges, as well as imposing an illegal blockade on the Gaza Strip according to international law. Since October 7th, specifically, prompted by the attack by Palestinian organizations, the state of Israel, with an unprecedented attack, which includes sweeping bombardments in one of the most densely populated areas on the planet, a coordinated air and ground invasion, systematic blockade of humanitarian aid from third countries and volunteers - as demonstrated by the attack on part of this year's mission of the global sumud flotilla, where Israeli forces intercepted the fleet's course west of Crete with the cooperation of the Greek state while capturing and torturing two members of the fleet who were transferred to Israeli prisons, deliberate bombing of hospitals and interruption of the electricity supply, has killed 60,000 Palestinians, including 18,000 children, and injured over 120,000, while hunger and deprivation of all kinds healthcare is the reality for the entire population. The fact that one of the most well-trained and equipped armies in the world is unable to impose complete control over a small piece of land, facing continuous flare-ups on various fronts within Gaza for two and a half years, and the parallel resistance that is manifested in the West Bank with ongoing strikes and clashes with the police and the occupation army, also highlights the strength of those fighting against their occupier. With the new phase of the genocide entering its third year, the attack on those who have sided with the Palestinian side by the Western power bloc has intensified to unprecedented levels, taking advantage of the recession of the international student movement that was in full swing at this time last year. The new Trump administration of the American state is attempting a repressive offensive on the country's universities, arresting both students and academics who either participated in the student occupations of the previous year, or simply spoke out publicly against the genocide and attempting to deport them by canceling their legal documents, at the same time as drawing up plans for the "exploitation" and colonization of Gaza together with Israel. At the same time, in European states that still maintain humanitarian pretexts with lukewarm announcements calling for peace, solidarity demonstrations are being broken up, Palestinian symbols are banned as anti-Semitic and activists are being arrested and imprisoned, while interstate relations and agreements still remain in full force.
The genocide being committed makes it clear once again that despite the proclamations of some international law, and the dreams of some humanitarian ideals promoted by the refined West, in the world of the State and Capitalism the only law that can prevail is that of the strong that will be imposed on the weak. How States are able to decide which populations deserve to live and which to exterminate while promoting intolerance and social fascistism as a weapon to cultivate apathy in the face of massacres.
We, for our part, cannot but continue to be in solidarity with the Palestinian people who continue to fight hard and persistently for their survival, dignity, and freedom. The internationalist and irrevocable solidarity, which is neither bent nor terrified by repression, we want to create rifts within the aggressor sovereigns, bringing to the fore our own history, the history of the struggles from below, which against all times, create the living reality of freedom and solidarity, constituting the only real bulwark against the onslaught of modern totalitarianism. Until the liberation of peoples from nations, religions, racism, and intolerance.
SOLIDARITY TO ALL THE PERSECUTED FOR THEIR STANDING ON THE SIDE OF THE PALESTINIAN SIDE
FREEDOM TO THE STRUGGLING PALESTINIAN PEOPLE
