This June 2026 marks the centenary of the publication of the pamphlet known as "The Platform." It was a foundational document in the development of a revolutionary theory suited to the historical moment in which it was written. It was not a complete program, as its authors proposed that it be developed more precisely once the anarchist movement had created the organization they outlined as the "General Union of Anarchists."
Although "The Platform" was immediately attacked by other anarchist currents of its time, it managed to establish organizational foundations that endure to this day. For example, the idea that it is absurd to have militants from different anarchist tendencies, with different tactics, within the same organization. Therefore, strategic unity, tactical unity, and collective responsibility are necessary to build a solid organization, as well as a federal structure to avoid centralist and authoritarian temptations. The lessons of this document were the starting point for an entire current within the anarchist movement, which calls itself anarcho-communist, anarchist communist, libertarian communist, platformist, or especifist, depending on the context. The origins of this current can be traced back to the International Alliance of Socialist Democracy of 1868, but the moment that most clearly marked the break with anti-organizational tendencies within anarchism was undoubtedly the 1920s, with debates like this and others like it taking place in various regions.
A century after this document, the undersigned organizations wish to honor the heroic legacy of the Dielo Truda group.
Long live the Platform
Long live libertarian communism
