By consensus, the entire UAF (Anarchist Federalist Union) mobilized around the initiative proposed by the Federação Anarquista Capixaba (FACA) to carry out a week of propaganda and struggle with the working class across our immense Brazilian territory on this first of May, 2026. ---- We carried out posters, leafleting, and discussion circles. We recalled the history of May Day, highlighted the current destruction of jobs, hyper-exploitation, the annihilation of part of the workforce by machines, robots, and artificial intelligence. We firmly denounced the continuity and advance of fascism in Brazil. We discussed the trade union situation and the need to have workers' associations that serve the interests of workers, not union elites or political parties.
As a result of the historical struggle of workers (men and women), we highlighted the need to reduce the 6×1 shift schedule, reduce the working day, win better wages, and combat moral harassment - today one of the most used tools to exploit and control the working class - whether in the private or public sector.
We denounced the widespread hatred in the National Congress, in the Brazilian Executive and Judiciary, in schools, and on social networks, associated with the authoritarian legacy and torture of the Military Dictatorship in Brazil, which adds to the growing militarization of society. This is notable in the proliferation of urban paramilitary militias, agribusiness militias, evangelical militias, neo-Nazis, and drug trafficking. All of this is spread with impunity and massively by technology companies - supporters of the cult of hatred, whether by broadcasting animal torture or aggression against homeless people.
Our May Day 2026 action, carried out by working women and men, took this message of reflection and action to the state of Espírito Santo, in the cities of Vitória, Vargem Alta, Alegre, Piúma, Marataízes, Itapemirim, Cachoeiro de Itapemirim; to Minas Gerais, in the cities of Contagem and Lajinha; to Rio de Janeiro, in the cities of Bom Jesus do Itabapoana and Campos dos Goytacazes; and to Bahia, in Mata de São João and Salvador. (Some photos follow).
We haven't even started yet. Because it didn't begin on May 1st, 2026, and it didn't end on July 19th, 1936. We will continue working to create tools that strengthen the working class to achieve liberation from capitalist super-exploitation, so that education promotes fraternity and society achieves equality.
Without working people, without the working class, life on the planet will remain threatened for the benefit of capitalist elites.
