The New York Knicks are the NBA champions for the first time in more than 50 years.
The team defeated the San Antonio Spurs late Saturday in Texas in Game 5 of this year’s Finals, 94-90, to close out the best-of-seven series.
The win capped an epic postseason run that has electrified the five boroughs and brought New Yorkers together with intense hometime pride.
That includes the Knicks’ historic Game 4 victory on Wednesday, when they notched the largest-ever NBA Finals comeback, and outscoring their opponents through the Eastern Conference Finals by 271 total points.
New Yorkers’ Knicks fever has perhaps never been higher. We crunched the numbers to show just how much it skyrocketed during the Finals.
