Today’s a day filled with bombshell news.
The first bombshell is Trump’s claim of an energy truce between Ukraine and Russia yesterday. Zelensky was quick to say that, yes, Kyiv agrees to reciprocate, but only if Trump can actually guarantee a truce, while the Kremlin took its time to snub Trump offhandedly by calling it a “very good idea” a day later, despite rumored Kremlin sources suggesting otherwise.
But judging by Trump’s previous attempts at mediating an energy truce in Ukraine, there probably won’t be a deal unless there’s actually a deal – and one that’s agreed by all parties, with the same conditions.
The second bombshell concerns Trump Jr. – and maybe Trump himself – as an investigation unveiled that a Putin-allied oligarch paid for Trump Jr.’s wedding festivities, which is also strange considering how some EU states are pushing to delist some Russian oligarchs from sanctions.
On the subject of sanctions, Trump’s envoy also visited Minsk and supposedly promised to help unseize the seized funds, with Lukashenko telling said envoy that there’s no such thing as political prisoners.
The last bombshell is Ukraine’s advances in the Donetsk region, with the tight-lipped Third Army Corps finally unveiling its Operation Vivaldi that effectively reversed Russia’s 2026 advances. No wonder why Lavrov’s banging on about the “Alaska understanding” once again.
