What a whirlwind of a weekend.
Over the weekend, just as foreign figures – including Britain’s Boris Johnson and former CIA Director David Petraeus – were leaving the country after attending Kyiv’s YES conference, a Russian drone slammed into a train next to the Polish border. War correspondent Mitzi Purdue has provided us with a first-hand account of what happened.
But despite the strike, Russia has vowed to keep hitting Ukraine – which might be slightly ironic considering reports from HUR – at the very YES conference – that Moscow has problems getting Chinese jet engines for its new drones. Kyiv Post also attended the conference, where Budanov suggested potential trilateral talks in October, Kushner claimed territory is the last hurdle in peace talks, and Azov’s Biletsky said air defense will determine who wins the war.
Kyiv Post also managed to have a brief chat with Poland’s Sikorsky about Polish-Ukraine relations and his take on things.
But that wasn’t the breaking news in Kyiv – domestically, headlines are dominated by new accusations from the prosecutor general – who just resigned – against the country’s anti-corruption agencies while on a foreign visit. Zelensky also just ousted him officially, so the plot thickens.
