France, Organisation Communiste Libertarie (OCL) - Courant Alternatif #241 - NANTES: STRUGGLE AGAINST THE SUPPRESSION AND ISSUES BEHIND THE ABANDONMENT OF AIRPORT PROJECT (fr, pt)

On May 17, we were a thousand to protest against the political-police Valls. ---- Little 
background ---- We remember how, on February 22, which was certainly the largest 
demonstration against the airport project of Notre-Dame-des-Landes, bringing together 40 
000 to 50 000 people in Nantes, enabled through anger and determination of the protestors, 
the prefect waives invest ZAD few weeks later (1) (see our CA 239 and 240). The idea that 
this could be the prelude to a greater victory, neglect or outright postponement of the 
project begins to sprout in all heads. ---- Yet this anger and determination that have 
long expressed in the street as the ZAD, were not to the liking of everyone: February 22, 
we were not far from the municipal elections, and it was utmost importance for the 
candidates left "anti-airport" and environmentalists condemn immediately after to outdo 
the "troublemakers" who, in their eyes, looked more like "anarcho-autonomous" as police 
officers! Obviously, the repressive process could therefore only be continued safely: 
wrongdoers said "disorders" were appointed, one could judge them, imprison them, find them 
more easily ... especially that solidarity was still not implementation for these 
institutional in this election period extended, now with the European line of sight, which 
has offered to serious guarantees to work peacefully against the troublemakers.

After police violence and blinded February 22 in the second round of municipal past, were 
raids and arrests, trials and convictions - including that of Enguerrand to a year in prison.

Safely? Not quite! After the shock suffered by the spouse assault police and judges,

Isolation attempts continue

This bet was of course not without risk, since antir?pression events are rarely full, 
especially in a political climate policeman decided to silence anger and isolate 
determination. The incredible outburst tense February 22 shots, however, had left no trace 
in the eyes of some comrades, but also in the minds of all those and all those who have 
well understood that what is called Valls endorses indeed a police state, which will 
eventually shoot everything that moves. Indignation rose a notch. The support committee 
Enguerrand, the Nantes antirep committee and committees are harnessed to prepare the event 
looking, of course, the support of all the forces that were against the construction of 
the airport, and in particular ACIPA and anti-airport Coordination. Support sought 
logically, since he was going in the political sense of what has been said and repeated 
again with force in a press release on the evening of 22 February, that all tactics have 
their place in the movement. But between a statement and reality, there is a chasm. When 
committee members support Enguerrand went to ask the position of each of the Coordination, 
the cleavages were clearly displayed.

On the one hand, the ACIPA, EELV and the Conf?d?ration Paysanne 44, which reiterated their 
condemnation of "incidents" from February 22 to refuse to call the antir?pression event. 
Nothing new regarding EELV: this party has not stopped for years spluttering on the Occupy 
movement calling to isolate uncontrollable elements (see eg Press the Ocean 14/09/11 
statement Magnen, vice president EELV the region Pays de la Loire, about zadistes: "It's 
complicated ... It is poor, the ultras are completely autonomous, it is unclear how the 
fire"). Knowing that the president of the ACIPA is now on the list for the European EELV 
and the Peasant Confederation applies only his recovery to the direction of the Chamber of 
Agriculture, it is obvious that all these big institutional stables stand by goatee to 
play a partition incompatible with a clear position in support of defendants and victims 
of police repression (meaning, they did what they deserve).

On the other hand, the extreme left with the NPA, Breizhistance, and libertarians in 
general have supported the initiative scheduled for May 17. Support not only verbal, but 
present on the ground. Note the pleasing banner "Plogoff From the book, we always won" 
recalling that the territorial roots and a sense of belonging often play a decisive role 
in the success of a movement, and that popular mobilization, beyond or outside the party, 
which is the decisive and most unpredictable element! A reminder that, moreover, the 
authorities of any kind do not forget when it comes to maneuvering in Britain.

So much so that cheerful and determined march a thousand demonstrators in the streets of 
Nantes is far from being a failure, and could give the desire to continue the fight beyond 
a possible postponement or abandonment of the proposed airport.

Against airport AND WORLD ...

Indeed, it is obvious to a large part of support and anti-airport that leads the struggle 
against the airport AND WORLD committees. But these terms are, conversely, a coquettish 
style appropriate to forget as quickly as possible for institutional we spoke above (2). 
It is for them to capitalize electorally and as places in institutions of this world, any 
victory against the airport they self-assign (forgetting to pass the decisive factor that 
the various actions were performed on and around the ZAD). Yet it is in relation to that 
world that questions arise: If the project is set aside, what will the land? Will they be 
transformed into a golf green games for tourists sores? Recovered by large and medium 
farmers who forget their commitment to "youth"? Or on the contrary they will collectively 
operated by small farmers, neos or not constituting attempted reports more or less new?

What infrastructure will be in place around the ZAD (road bar) in a not so distant future, 
which would bounce the project? How regional metropolisation in which the airport was 
listed as key focus will she continued? And what can we do to annoy? Knowing that, even if 
the project is "frozen", nothing will prevent the power to recover the land by force to 
prevent abscess which remain an example threatening to oil stain ...

Briefly, these issues and others are sure to arise even if the project is postponed or 
abandoned NDDL. We will not let the little marquis recovery basking quietly pill golds 
power through our struggles.

Prospects

5 and 6 July will be held the summer rally organized by all the anti-airport Coordination. 
The program has not yet been finally determined, but it is urgent to raise the question of 
the meaning and content of the policies that are manifest. Will it be a disguised funeral, 
based on the abandonment of the project perspectives, with of course "The struggle 
continues" and "Remain vigilant"? Or get there will identify opportunities for the fight 
widens in the direction of a critique in acts of "THIS world" - with, for example, 
increased determination to engage in a renewed opposition to nuclear waste disposal, as Bure?

Last year, during the summer gathering of Notre-Dame-des-Landes, an anti-capitalist 
village had been installed by a convergence of circumstances including zadistes 
libertarian organized or not, local community and others. Success was the appointment, 
with thousands of "visitors" and debates sometimes involving more than 300 people. At the 
moment, we are not able to say exactly what will happen, but anyway we will be, for us, 
involved an anti-capitalist statement at the heart of the gathering, with discussions on 
the above issues.

OCL West

(1) On 22 April, 500 cops were expelled and shave on a ZAD reoccupied by zadistes and 
peasants after the expulsion of its inhabitants by the judges farm. Since then, the 
prefect Lavern?e was "promoted" to the Court of Auditors, which, after the departure of 
his chief of staff transferred to Grenoble, indicating some excitement power over the 
choice of its local relays.

(2) This remark concerning the formulation is not a detail, as the slogan of "IMMEDIATE 
out nuclear power" makes all the difference with the version of the network, advocating an 
"exit" in a while ...!
