NEW YORK -- New York City's Health Department says it's investigating three cases of meningitis that have developed in HIV-positive gay men over the last two weeks. The department says Friday it's recommending meningitis vaccinations for all men who regularly have intimate contact with other men. It says men with HIV are at a greater risk of acquiring meningitis.

Starkville to allow unmarried partners or ‘plus-1′ adult on city insurance plan

JACKSON, Miss. -- A north Mississippi city is revising its health insurance plan to let municipal employees buy coverage for one other adult, including a same-sex partner. Starkville Mayor Parker Wiseman said Friday that the new insurance plan is an attempt to save money - not to make a political statement.

ATHENS, Greece -- Gay rights protesters have gathered outside Greece's parliament after the government said it would delay legislation allowing civil unions for same-sex couples, despite a recent European court ruling against the country on the issue. About 500 people joined the peaceful protest in central Athens Friday, held while lawmakers prepared to vote on an anti-racism bill.

The high court said Friday the 2nd District Court of Appeal first should rule on the case, in which a lesbian couple married in Massachusetts and is now seeking a divorce in Florida.

Oregon woman says she’s being targeted because she’s gay

RAINIER, Ore. -- A woman in Rainier, Ore., says she is being targeted by vandals and a new property manager because of her sexual orientation. Melanie Powell said she has been living at the same mobile home park for 25 years without any issues, but in the last few months, she says the new property manager has been out to get her, issuing her notice after notice.
